Please tell us what your first car was.

If you post a photo of your first car as well, you will stand a chance to win a MyBroadband jacket.

Mazda 323 (First Generation). It was an astonishingly reliable car – it did over 300,000km before it packed in. Still sold it for R2,000 after its engine seized :)

I had a 1992 Honda Balade which was a piece of crap, but it was my piece of crap. Had some modifications and upgrades, which made it quite fun to drive :)

I had one of those as well. It was a mess - water problems, aircon which was a problem. Sold it a year later at a R13,000 loss.

Sold mine for 10k

It was a fan that blew cold air not really aircon.

Didn't even have cold air blown into mine, it was always hot air. Couldn't even redirect the air flow. Clutch problems, overheating, but the ladies loved the back seat.

1988 VW Jetta GSX 1.8, gave so many issues. I was actually sweating when I drove it to my first financed car in 2002... which was also my rude awakening into the dishonesty of used car salesman.

(similiar to this, but not same vehice)

1972 VW Beetle.jpg

1972 Beetle.

It never died.
It just kept on going.
It was eventually sold -not because there was anything wrong with it- for more than it was bought.

1997 Polo Sedan, which went through a SAC Polotech conversion.

If I post a pic then I may lose my forum anonymity among friends and family...

2003 Toyota Tazz, Still have it with the other car now. Not intending on selling it anytime soon. Very reliable and with over 300 000km on the clock still going strong.

1976 VW Beetle 1.6 - Cost me R8500 to buy. R8000 to rebuild the engine and another R10 000 to fix up the body and redo the interior.
All done with capitec loans that taught me a good lesson in life :D
