What was your first car?

Mine was a 1971 Mini for which I paid the princely sum of R1050. The price was the equivalent of about six month's salary

I do not have a picture - I don't think the camera had been invented back then.
 
1992 Opel Monza CD 16v bought in 98 for R40 000. Loads of oomph and fun for 21 year old

I had the 1.3GL version, also 1984. I agree with the sentiment.

It taught me a lot about car mechanics over the 12 years I had it. Every time I bought a Ford replacement part it was a redesign of the one that failed. It had metric and imperial size bolts. Perfect example of a car designed by a committee. Took a lot of effort to keep it going.

First car I had during uni 2003 BMW e46 318i Steptronic. 203k kms when I got her 2 years later gearbox got stuffed. Still miss her to this day

Nissan sentra 1995 140gx in Red with a boot spoiler, (pic is a blue one)

Red Triumph Spitfire MkII, not this one but basically the same: Spitfire MkII

...great car, loads of fun to drive as just a bit too much throttle in a corner would snap the back end loose and it was so low to the ground that 80kph felt like 200kph. Eventually all that fun was its undoing, I pranged it on the road up to Rhoades Memorial and given that it was a 70s model parts were hard to come by - sold it to a member of the crank-handle club who fully restored it by casting part of the bodywork in fibreglass.

Looking back I was clearly a spoiled little schit and I feel nothing but shame for the fact that I no longer have that car.
 
I had a red 1987 Fiat Uno Fire... Man she must have been the cleanest car on campus during exams. Added a pair of 6X9s and some lekker mags later. Sold her for R15K with 287 000 on the clock. Reliable little car, but super crap on wet roads.

1984 Opel Ascona 1.6GL that I took over from my dad - was extremely reliable. Built and drove like a tank. Mine was almost identical to the one below, except for a metallic silver skirt below the bumpers and side moldings, burn the back of your retina spotlights in a proper grille and a genuine Piranha louvre.

1978 VW 1500 Diesel. Was light on juice - picked up fellow appys for a small fee - that paid for all my roadtrips. Sold to a friend, he somehow managed to rev the one piston right through the block.

My 1985 Corolla 1.6 Auto
Only had a door mirror on the driver's side. Was the same hearing aid yellow like this model.

I’m a spoiled little schit...the car I posted was given to me when i was 16, a junior in high school. Used to drive a different girl to school everyday.
