What was your first car?

First car was an old hand-me-down (first owned/driven by my mother, then owned/driven by my eldest sister, then shared/driven with my younger sister and I to drive to varsity and back) Ford Escort.

The first car I bought with my own hard-earned money though was a 2010 model Ford Fiesta 1.4 (pictured). Still going strong, my wife now drives it :) Tebb - First car.jpg
 
Hi

A grey Chevrolet Firenza, was my grand parents car, cannot remember the model number.
Wish I had the monies then to upgrade the suspension and add a V8 engine.
Had a mechanic friend ready to do the job for me!

This car took me all over the place, all the parties/jols we went on.
Died a couple of times next to the roadside, due to oil leakage!, but I would walk to the nearest garage,
buy tin of oil, put it in, start the car, and go! lol
Those where good times...

Eventually had to scrap the vehicle :(
My mechanic friend said he could not fix/patch it any more.
 
First car which I'm still using as my daily drive to this day is a 2007 Opel Corsa bakkie which I purchased in 2008 with only 17,000km on the clock. Bakkie now has 125,000km on the clock. This bakkie got me into wrenching as it is so easy to work on and cheap to maintain.

98 VW citi golf , wrote it off and brought it back to life twice :)
 
Toyota Yaris 2014 Facelift. Got it just two months ago and learnt to drive in it. Still enjoying it. IMG_20180418_093127.jpg

My First Car was an 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Like this one below, Paid R500 for it at Auction. Did close to 100000kms in it before it was stolen, Cops found it (the shell) in Alexandra 3 weeks later.

My first car. I still have it. 1993 Ford Meteor. Rusty as all hell, but still going strong. Belonged to an old couple before hand, so even with me driving it everyday it only has 180 000km on the clock. Shouldn't have a hard time selling it at all, as I constantly get offers for the car

One day i went off to national service and when i came back my dad had sold it. I suppose he had the right, given that he bought it for me.

My own first car was a VW Fox.

In 1977 my dad chipped in to a car of the year I was born - 1960. I had the honour, and his help, to restore it to full glory - and roadworthiness. I raided my bank account more than once for Abarth engine tuning parts. It taught me four things: (1) I am not entitled to anything. I want something, I work for it. (2) Parent's love means teaching you life skills. (3) If you are lucky, your dad is a DIY buff. (4) The feeling of having something major achieved is hard to beat.
On the day of my drivers test in 1978 I received my license and drove off in this vehicle which was miraculously parked in front of the driving school and test centre. Ah...1978 in Europe.

The feeling when the left mirror comes off because you didn't put spring washers underneath the nuts,
then, is as completely priceless as my distorted face (that thing cost 19 Deutschmark).
