predict that developers are going to focus on those wierd crazy Japanese games, where you watch the girlly boy hero with long green hair moans about how unfair life is before battling the tentacle monster by playing a harp while his unattainable love interest, dressed in a catholic schoolgirl uniform turns out to be tha ancient goddess sent to protect humanity from a race of evil cat people, all the while singing "To Beeeeheeee in Loooooveeeee". So the PS3 will rule Japan, but the 360 will Rule US / EU and other places where people are actually sane.

Im just so tired of having to repeat myself! I have said a million times that at this very moment the xbox is leading and that the ps3 has had a terrible year. But IMO by this time next year the ps3 will be the clear leader.

If you want to put the PS3 down atleast find valid reasons and stop repeating the same tired things over and over.

Truth is most things presented on this site are personal opinion, yet peolple continue to present them as fact, thats when I feel I need to step in. The only reason you guys have such an issue with me, is cos im seemingly the only ps3 supporter who refuses to back down against the xbox army that populates this site.

I like the white, and while the drive might be useful once we get IPTV early next year, I don't think it's essential in any way, the 20Gb is doing me just fine.

... On zeridines's comment - he's actually right about PS3 Blu-Ray. The issue isn't just with the PS3 but a number of the players. The BR standard wasn't (might still not be) completely ratified before devices were released, addition features like BD-J and PiP have not been fully implemented on early players including the PS3 yet. They can hopefully sort it out in future firmware updates, and it doesn't affect the actual movie playback, but technically, there are "issues".

By comparison HD-DVD was ratified and certified before the first device shipped, and the spec mandates Ethernet connectivity (not specified for BR) and 32Mb onboard flash for all HD-DVD devices to support future updates.

Xbox has done to consoles wat AMD did to processors, Sony had the market in the palm of their hands and were smiling all the way to bank, Besides a slight graphics upgrade/crap dvd player/analogs there was little difference between PS1 and PS2.

xbox was born and revolutionised consoles with its live capabilities, not to mention better GFX, better controllers, hell every dam thing about it was better!, The only thing sony had in its favour was the fact it had more games to choose from.

Then xbox evolved and became xbox-360 and tipped all the scales, awesome GFX, wireless, Live etc. you could not ask for much more!, making ps2 a memory most will choose to forget. And it happened about 2 years ago.(light years ahead of sony).

Besides the Blue ray drive i can't think of anything origional in the PS3??, this is the result of Sony breaking the bank and going all out to beat the 360 but still the second generation console is going head to head with sony's third generation!

If its quality entertainment at the right price you want then go for the 360, If you wanna show off to your freinds buy PS3.

I feel that everyone who goes out and buys an Xbox360 is selling themselves and the buying public short. What the success of the Xbox360 (and it has been quite a success up to now) proves is that quality of product really is a bonus and not a necessity. How can a total design flaw be so acceptable to anyone how works hard for their money? I don't care that MS now throws a 3 year warranty at their product; the simple fact is their product was not designed right in the first place and should have been pulled from the shelves. If GM pushes out a car with a flaw it's recalled, if Sony pushes out a flawed battery it's recalled but if MS pushes out a flawed console Joe Soap is expected to accept this and only demand a replacement if it fails (which chances are it will and by all accounts the new revisions still haven't completely solved the thermal issues). What an arrogant, anti-consumer move to make. I guess they couldn't do what they usually do and flood the world with their crap product and patch the **** out of it when the public has done their QA for them (sounds like slave labour to me). As a paying costumer thier mode of doing business is totally unacceptable and I will not vote with my wallet and say that it is.

A lot can happen in a year, but clear leader???? I think it'll be more closer than what it is now but I don't think there will be a clear leader.

But it's still true isn't it? This is a big deciding factor when buying something as expensive as a console.

All the reasons listed are valid reasons. People are repeating them cause $ony hasn't done/can't do anything about it. People deciding which console to choose have the right to know what they're getting themselves into. That goes for the X360 as well.

Anyway, screw both the PS3 and X360. My PC beats both of them hands down. I'm gonna be getting a Wii.

Agreed. M$ should have sorted out these issues before hand. The reason they didn't was obviously cause they wanted to get it out to the public ASAP. A strategy that has helped them greatly.

Again the situation is different. Have you seen what damage those batteries did? Check it out here. Would you want this on your lap?

Remember the $ony rootkit debacle? Don't try and make $ony look like the good guys. They are just as arrogant and anti-consumer as M$. Actually they were way more arrogant in the past. But they got brought down a couple of hundred pegs throughout the year.

As a gaming addict and having obtained all three consoles I have to admit the PS3 does look cool but... thats it. Like Doobi said "Power is nothing without content."

True they have, but most of the updates seem to be for added features rather than massive faults/bugs, similar to an open source type progression.

Agreed, it's about your needs but when the average xboxer on this forum's blood starts boiling it eventually comes out that they just don't like Sony and their tactics (the converse is also true), so I guess most are just being silly?

Agreed, it's always about the bottom line, mine included and thus I really can't bring myself to buying a consumer electronic that I know is flawed and can't simply be fixed by a little bit of software. I was on the fence for a very long time before the RRoD debacle trying to decide which way to go. I just wanted the best for my hard earned money (and my needs).

when i was staying in london i had a problem with my xbox and needed it to be checked, i phoned it in and the next day MS sent a courier with an empty box and took it away, one week later i had it back good as new, now sure everyone would wants things to work perfect all the time but thats impossible and you should all know tech doesnt last too long anyway so the important thing is the after sales service wich IMO is very good in the UK, luckly i havn't had problems in s.a yet.

One complaint i do have about xbox in s.a is that Live is not supported here, IMO if they want to sell their products here they should give the entire package regardless of how many users there is, it sux to have to buy game time from overseas company's and lie about your location.

Both the X360 and the PS3 sold at a loss once they were launched. But since the middle of this year (June I think?) the X360 started selling at a profit. A profit that's been increasing. Which is why M$ are sitting in a good position right now. Whatever $ony drops their price to, M$ can match it and brobably still make a profit.

Very true. This is one of the reasons I can't be bothered with the X360.
