What would you do?

Had a 2012 Honda Jazz. Uhm it's a Jazz. Loved it, but a different flavor would be nice. A CRZ, the old one hell yes the raw B16B is very unrated (if you can find one). The new one is a disappointment, basically a Jazz platform with a mild hybrid system, the one positive however, add a supercharger and yes! One sneeky sleeper.
Apparently the new CRZ is a manual and I have seen some 2nd hand price, which is not bad at all. And didnt they had a power upgrade with the facelift

CRZ is only offered in stick shift. Was incredibly unusual (for a Hybrid) at the time.
They did mention that it was extremely unpractical. So I'll take that off the list. (nice project no one has done yet in SA though)

Okay so from this discussion.

1. I learnt that no stupid financial choices (you know who you are) Thank you.

2. Any of the shortlist cars I mentioned are good.

3. Watch my spelling

Jus as a curve ball.

The 90's Japanese sports cars, something that one doesn't mind keeping for their grandchildrens children to drive.

Which one is preferred? (I'll mention engine's cause not sure of the years)

1) Toyota 4AGE? (Corolla 1.6 16 Valve Twin Cam)
2) Toyota 2ZZ GE? (Runx Rsi)
3) Nissan SR20? (Sentra 200STI)
4) Honda B16/K20? (Definitely in one of the Civics)

Basically the Sub R100k bracket?

So uhm, I eventually swallowed the bitter pill and accepted the reality that, staying with Snow (2015 Ford Ikon) was loosing value quicker then anything.

Ended up accepting the poor trade and settling the balance.

Yes, I'm car-less, which brings me to the topic of this post.

I'm a die hard Japanese car guy for reasons you reading this would know. I love them. Never looking at a Ford again (they are unnecessarily complicated)

I require assistance in choosing my next Japanese child.

My list of non negotiables:
Must be 6 speed manual
Non turbo
Cruise control
Hatchback
Something that I can fiddle with on the weekend (DIY friendly).

Short list of cars I can think of:
2014-2017 Suzuki Swift Sport #in Grey or Yellow )

2012-2015 Toyota Yaris/Auris (very rare with cruise control but aftermarket options are plentiful)

2009-2013 Honda Civic Hatch VXI spec

Anything I missed? What would you do?
Opinions would be greatly appreciated

I would default to the Civic (I have one, albeit turbo diesel).
One thing to note- 2009 - 2013 encompasses two different generations of Civic (mk8 & mk9) - 2006 - 2011 would be mk8, with the facelift being in 2009, thereafter mk 9 from 2012 onwards.
There's also the mk8 Type-R - naturally aspirated 2L, same spec as VXI, I think, with the exception of the seats not being leather/no seat heaters and being a 3 door instead of 5 door.

Okay. True.

The Civic and the Auris are the most sensible, long term offerings.

Yes, I was taking into consideration both generations (like them both to be honest).

The Mk8 body (esp. 2011 VXI in that brown colour ) I like alot simply because the level of spec that you get for the price currently (leather seats, heated seats, cruise control, aftermarket goodies, can even make it look like a FN2 of that's a thing), and would work perfectly with the budget.

The Mk9 I also like, but, the spec level in the budget won't be the same spec level as the previous gen (think they now term it as elegance. Unlike the spec that you get in a Executive model). Only good part it has the updated look.

Amazingly, the same engines petrol engines. 1.8 I-Vtec.

Personally I love the metallic blue (think it's called deep sapphire blue). That would have been my first choice. I'm also not a fan of the mk9 shape but that's just me.

The blue is super super rare. I've seen ones online mostly and think there was a Dtec for sale a while back.

Any complaints with your civic?

Just one- it's not blue
Have a slight niggle with boost dropping a bit that I need to fix- I have to find out what's causing it first, but other than that, no complaints. It's not an issue you'll have on the 1.8 though. This is my second Civic - wrote the first one off.

It seams like I'm a lil late to the party . There are no Mk8's for sale that are in good nick (under 100k on the clock, in manual)

Found just one, but the millage seams abit suspect for the year.

Also in my internet raid, I'm seeing that the Mk8 is holding value better then the Mk9. Finding alot (in auto sadly) priced the same as the Mk9

Will try posting on the Honda Society FB page, hopefully there a old man/lady wanting to let go of one.

that is over priced imo

That's more than I paid for my face-lift diesel. Granted, it had almost triple the mileage of that one.
I wouldn't get a pre-facelift mk8. The rear-pdc alone makes it worth it to look for a '09-onwards Civic (vxi spec)
