Hey guys. I've decided to start up a small PC selling business and I've only built up one machine just to see how it goes. I want to know if you think my price is justified for this computer that I built. It's a Mid range gaming PC. Nothing amazing.

Intel C2D 2.66Ghz
4Gb DDR2 800 Kingmax RAM
500Gb Samsung SATA2 HDD
ATI Sapphire 4670 VGA/HDMI/DVI Onboard Graphics card
Gigabyte Superb 460W PSU
MSI G31M3-FV2
Gigabyte GZ-X4(1x 120mm exhaust fan)
Samsung SATA 2 DVD/CD Writer
Windows 7 loaded

I'm asking R5999(That's with labor etc)

Makro is asking R5999 for a

Pentium D E2160
1Gb RAM
320Gb SATA 2 HDD
DVD/CD Writer
Windows Vista HP.

Seeing that made me think that I could get a bit more for my built PC. What do you guys think? Is my price reasonable?

Thanks for any advice.

I built the following for R5200 for a friend - didn't make much - R500 for my time / labour etc. So it depends on your margin - i'd rather sell 20 machines at 500 than 5 at 1000 profit.

The market is competitive - for 6k i'd expect a screen even if a 15".

Regards,
J

It's going to be hard for you to start that in Durban with pczone around, I'm just giving my honest opinion :)

One rule I always follow...
-Never EVER compare your prices to Makro, IC, Game etc.
They are always overcharging and online retailers are 99.9% of the time cheaper!

Thanks for the info, I did notice that the one you made doesn't have a graphics card? Maybe I'm just not looking properly or don't see it?

Heh heh sorry, let me rephrase this. I meant I'll sell online on say Gumtree or BidOrBuy.:p But I see your point.

One rule I always follow...
-Never EVER compare your prices to Makro, IC, Game etc.
They are always overcharging and online retailers are 99.9% of the time cheaper!

Thanks, I thought that myself. ;)

So R6k for the machine is asking too much?

Ok then, I really actually only built this PC out of bordem.

How much do you think I should sell it for?

Not really sure.... I dont deal too much in the Full Tower Trade!

Ok. Well I'll leave it on BidorBuy at R6000 for a bit and see how it goes.

The only thing I don't like about selling online is the shipping charges. Then the buyer has to cash in more.

How can you compare a Windows licenced machine to yours with a windows 7 RC?
Drop R1k off Makro's one and compare again.
Hope you're clear about that in your advertising on B/B.
