Tonkotsu Ramen with Japanese marinated egg, white Shimeji mushrooms, Pak choi and Chashu pork belly. :D Took forever to make but worth it.

I generally post from my phone so pics are small and detail is often missing but today I sat at Hubbys Monster PC and was scrolling through pics looking for inspiration and I saw when you posted these pics and they looked good but until I saw it on a big screen with great colour I had no idea how amazing this actually looks. I quite literally started salivating and stared at it for ages trying to break it down to the various flavors. I could never make something like this but I would adore eating it. Thanks for the brilliant pics too. They look like they should be in the pages of Taste Magazine or a cookbook. ❤️❤️

My fiancee is having teeth issues so I made a broccoli soup for her. My version included crispy bacon and shaved pecorino.

Deelish.

Presentation not good but at least flavour was there.

Crispy Cajun pork strips with pea purée and pickled carrots. (will pass the peas through a sieve next time for even smoother consistency. But was bit pressed for time tonight)

I have a confession to make....

I ate pastry today

Read up on leptin. Somewhat of a controversial topic at times. But it suggests that sometimes a bit of a Carb-up helps to halt cravings and probably help break through a stall in weight loss.

And well. Sometimes it is just blerrie lekker.

Don't feel guilty either way. Enjoy it for what it was and back in the saddle tomorrow.

Made a coconut risotto rice pudding with lemongrass curd and granadilla
I'm sure it tasted awesome. I especially love lemongrass flavour with foods.

Hehe thanks! I reckon anyone can make the above the only thing it really takes is time.

I'm trying to imagine how broccoli soup would taste not normally being a massive broccoli fan. But it does look the business especially with added bacon, I mean how can anything not taste good with bacon added :D

I think it's held in higher regard among those that are low-carb and also exercise/lift. I know if I plan a cheat meal I prefer Sunday so that at least the carb-up will help me out at the gym the next day.

Which seriouseats recipe did you use? I'm thankful there isn't a Ramen place in Durban, DownTown Ramen one of the first places I head to when I'm in Cape Town.

It's got onion, garlic, cream and some stock, but the predominant flavour is broccoli. I think if you were forced to eat it or haven't had it prepared the way you like it, you may have some bias against broccoli, but I never had an opinion on it and now I love it :) The soup is especially tasty, but we also do broccoli tossed in olive oil/butter, creamed broccoli etc.

Indeed. I neglected to add that we call it a refeed day in the fitness world. To give a quick restore to muscle glycogen.

Especially during a cut I make sure to implement it at least once every 2 weeks. Otherwise I find my performance goes down the drain.

Always on my heaviest lifting days too.

.

Wife pretty much tells me 2 times a week that it was too spicy.... Then when I tone it down she tells me it is not flavourful.... Aaaargghh.... Can't win with her :D

Lol. Same story.

Funnier still when she tells me not to spice something since our 2yo will eat it.

Then I make something super spicy and the 2yo finishes our plates.

I think I posted the link in the original post. Otherwise a simple search for tonkotsu Ramen will pop up the links. I think they only have the one main recipe on their site.

Think I'm just gonna fly to Cape Town, shot.
