Chicken & Lentil Curry / Daal Murgh

Aah I have the 20cm which upon arrival I thought was way too small, but it’s perfect for rice, popcorn, potatoes, noodles, sauce and whatever else as a daily driver.

I’ll probably get a 28 or 30 to go with it at some point for the more occasional stuff.

Nice, but heavy - as has been mentioned previously.

It’s a pot though, not like you need to shake it around.

For sure, I love my Lodge 28".

To move it I have to stand just right, prepare myself and move the pot quickly to a board. It's even heavier with food in it.

EDIT: Not such an issue for a guy.

Where did you get a Lodge locally?

28” is monstrous though and surely not a day to day cooking option.

That’s bigger than the average slow cooker.

Years ago, when the previous importer stopped bringing them in (think they were in Fourways) I got that and a deep frying pan? Skillet? It is humungous and definitely not for daily cooking but I was feeding 5 adults and it came in useful when we entertained.

Since I've moved into a smaller place i've had to give it to family.

EDIT: used one of the other beeg pots for soup a few weeks ago. It's looks disgusting but it's just bone broth and soup mix at this stage.

Maybe to us. But to anyone built smaller, having to deal with a heavy pot or pan while it's filled with food and frequently blazing hot can be problem.

Sure but that’s why I use the mother test who is half my size and only cooks with cast iron for one would swear an entire army because it’s never the small or even medium sized pots.

Yeah look I’m not going to go about flipping things in my cast iron skillet that’s for sure but generally there’s very little need to move any of it around unless it’s the type of meal where it’s going directly to the table.

The biggest bonus for me is that being on Solar the cast irons have a much lower power requirement as everything is pretty much on medium or lower.
