Had a few clients this week have their ADSL data cut, as well as heavy shaping for no reason.
Although they all still had data remaining.

MWEB couldn't resolve the problems, right then moved them all over to AfriHost unshaped accounts.
Seamless 5 minute process to migrate, with much better ADSL speeds.

MWEB support was useless too.
Shame they really are dropping their game..

Seems like they were on top when "uncapped" first hit the SA scene.
Now most people I know have left them.

/Rant over

Only had a few Google issues today. Perfect otherwise 99.9% of the time, so not phased.

That's nothing, i'm talking about no internet access at all..
Changed ISP, everything fine.

Did you know that MWEB used to be the fking best ISP a few years ago?

Why do you say "used to"?

Nothing's changed, unless you're a downloader/very heavy user (about 0.5% of total users).

Um, Idk. lol.

I left MWEB because I wanted to jump on the anti-throttling train.

So, as long as you schedule your downloads between 12am and 6am?

Sure. You can do whatever you want, just stay within your limits during the rolling 30 day usage period.

Hmm. How's streaming during business hours on Premium Uncapped? Pm me. I don't want people to follow me when I move out.

Mweb is BS! Move while you can and experience true Internet

MWEB is the best of all I've tried so far (I won't pay for business uncapped :) and I stick within their limits for throttling) .. but the past few days Google services have been horrific.

Clearly you haven't tried much lol

Mweb is bs end of story. A quick search on mybb will back up my statement.

Tried OpenWeb (on all their various networks at the time - IS/Vodacom/saix), Web Africa (on their own network and on IS), Axxess, Afrihost (on IS and on MTN), PluGG, TelkomSA. Some were too expensive, some were fine for a bit then got *** (WA and their star rating system), but on MWEB for the past few months I never have buffering on Netflix and browsing is just fine, P2P is ok (I don't actively watch my downloads - they just run and finish over night usually - series) and I don't go over their 30 day rolling window so I really have no reason to move for now.

I'm happy with Mweb, it does not mean that if a isp does not suit you, it does not suit any one else, nor does it mean if you happy at a isp every one else will be happy at the same one, same would go for Webafrica,Afrihost and others they all have their own policies. Also geographic location of the ips could have a impact on latencies, If you look on google you will find complains about every single one of the popular Isp,s, perhaps rather point out what you don't like about their particular policies and pricing.

I agree that ISP is a personal choice and I agree that one ISP may seem to represent value to one subscriber while being the pits for another.

Having said that, the issue I have with MWEB is one of principle. Their network and infrastructure is good.

MWEB - when managed by Rudi Jansen, revolutionosed the web. He freed the web. He started ''uncapped"' in SA. This allowed MWEB to become the biggest and argueably best ISP in the country. Rudi left, and Derek Hershaw took the reigns.

Unilaterally, he dedided to undo all the good will and internet freedom that EVERY MWEB subscriber used to enjoy. MWEBs throttle policy became silly and un defined.

To boot, subscribers were sent very poorly constructed letters basically telling them they were lower than doggie doo. Suddenly, it was a crime to be a heavy user, and where you were a heavy user, legitimate or not ..... in MWEBs eyes you were an abuser, a torrent whore .......

And the kicker was that for all this MWEB increased their prices while offering less. The MWEB shop in my area closed up, despite it being in the largest mall in KZN at the time.

I am happy for those people who are happy with MWEB.

But for me, I refuse to give my cash to benefit a CEO who I feel has morally wronged me and a whole bunch of other consumers.
IMHO MWEB can kiss my lily white are sole.
