I installed The Witcher 2 on my laptop yesterday. I can barely get 10fps with everything set to minimum at 1366x768. Tested out 640x480 on minimum and can manage 25fps but the game is unplayable because the text is too small and blurred.

So I'm just wondering what other games out there make PC's chug as much as this. Never experienced such lag on my laptop before. I max out games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1/2, Skyrim etc with over 30fps. Even Metro 2033 ran at over 20fps on my laptop on minimum (1366x768). Also managed over 30fps on the first Crysis.

I'm running an overclocked [email protected] and an overclocked Nvidia 320m GT.

Your 320M is the problem :)

Battlefield3 is at the moment the most graphically demanding game out there.

BTW, 30fps is deemed the minimum playable framerate. Anything below is a no-no :)

Laptop... Use a normal PC for playing games. You can have a bigger screen as well then.

10 fps! Sheesh, you can get better FPS if you used flashcards...

I had a decent PC 2 years ago. i5 750 and HD4870 with 4GB ram. Was stolen after a week though...no insurance... Decided to get a laptop as it is can be carried around to the gf. If I was single I would've got a PC :)

the witcher 2 is poorly optimized IMHO

the graphics arent even THAT great yet it makes your PC run like a bloody sawmill

one of the reasons I wont bother playing it

You might want to have bothered patching it.

If you actually cared to follow up you would have known by now that the DRM was in most part to blame for the graphic lag, which they did do a way with, with a recent patch.

Wow it sounds you are emotionally very invested in the game, to provoke such a reaction from saying the game is crap.

i know, I have a PC for a reason... If I wasnt bothered with following updates, I would get a console

so... to rephrase, the witcher 2 with patches AND DRM removed

still poorly optimized IMHO

:p

Console isn't the perfect answer either. Quite few titles that imho lag because of the 30 FPS usage. Gears of wars like for example tend to lag when it's a scene which involves camera turning during a cutscene or whatever is "busy".

Even ps3, I think uncharted runs at 30FPS.

Witcher 2 IMO is the most demanding game at the moment... and for a reason, very good looking game. Crysis 2 with the high res and DX11 patch is also pretty hectic.

Crysis is no longer the GPU killer, there are way more demanding games out there these days, some bad console ports. I struggle with Assasins Creed but play other games just fine for example.

Crank in Skyrim with all the high Res mods and packs along with that see everything from afar mod and watch you GPU cry:P Else Battlefield 3 at Max Res makes my GPU seem like a harmless little baby panda"/

Rage is also a very demanding game
It shouldn't be? The megatexture Technology allows for great performance for great visuals but then again it was poorly optimized :/I mean didn't Rage have a huge day one patch just to get it running?

Don't a few companies do that to prevent pre-release piracy?
