What's your retirement plans?

The key to life regardless of the age is to give, have a giving heart.

In my retirement the one thing I would be doing is been active in the various charities close to my heart, just giving to animals, the less fortunate and young & foolish. I will travel the world on a philanthropic crusades my wife and I. I will start writing my memoirs at retirement age which for a work-a-holic like myself would likely be in my early 70's.

All the icons I know all have one thing in common, they give, they pour out for others.

When people retire they loose purpose and suddenly age.
I have seen so many people working till late 60s and u wont think of them as old. But within a year of retirement they are old.

If you retire find a purpose and keep doing things.
So you saying date a hot 20 year old.

my wife wants to kill me if i say that i will be more than happy to retire at Wonderboom Caravan Park and do crosswords and drink beer the whole day (Joos Becker Caravan Park)

Argh why?

I want to live in a coastal village so I can swim open-water every day. Bonus if there is good scuba/snorkelling nearby. Wife hates the idea of moving to a small town. Finally catch up my reading and internet trolling as well.

If the Eastern Cape is still viable, somewhere in striking distance of Gababaga will work well.

Only those who have no other option, work in a job until they die.
Not true. Some folk just don't know what to do with themselves. It's as if still coming in / working albeit half days gives them purpose.

My parents have been retired for 15 years and have been doing back to back service missions through our church. Currently running a large scale wheelchair distribution thing where they go into the government and NPO's for parts of South Africa and most of our neighbouring countries and train the staff on the wheelchairs, repairs, etc and manage the distribution of the donations. Keeps them busy, and gives a huge sense of purpose. My dad is 76 and my mom 74 and they are fit, healthy, and their minds are kept very active. I plan to follow in their footsteps. Loss of purpose can kill you. You need to find a reason to get out of bed in the morning!

I'm actually busy training my replacement till end of month and then I'll go into early retirement. My brother and mom think I'm crazy, like who wants to retire at 45? And then what you going to do for the rest of your life?

I'm a gamer who loves to roleplay with various roleplaying communities I've discovered over the years. Creating stories and interacting with new peeps is always a fun time waiting to happen.

Be more focused on living a healthy life, excercise and take up reading again, something I use to love before the hussle and bustle of life kicked in. Thankfully I have no kids/wife, flying solo is my jam and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Rather call it a sabbatical then when you have blown all your money on hookers and blow you can tell people it was fun but all sabbaticals must end.

Work till you dead, that's the natural way of life.
Maybe you change the line of work as you get older but always be active and engaged with life and that includes earning a living.
