Whatsap service extended

lol Mine has always been free..

on Whatsapp Version 2.7.2239 doesn't show account info .. Just says Purchase Service now !

Mine expiring 19Aug 2012! How you guys get it till 2021??? I am not particularly worried seeing that it is only like 1.99 Dollahs...but still.
 
2021? You sure not 2012? Maybe you accidently mixed up the two last digits???

But this sounds like good news I'll wait for mine to reach the expiring date and hope this happens to me too...
 
How does an ordinary south African,purchase whatsaap?it s not everyone who can purchase using dollars and credid cards

As far as I know, any credit card or cheque card will do. But I agree, this might be inconvenient for some.

While IM+ might be a handy app to have on your phone, I wouldn't call it the 'best' as it is probably too complicated for the average (and I really mean average here!) person to set up. My girlfriend's mother, for instance, set Whatsapp up herself and regularly uses it. I can't imagine her doing the same with IM+ and adding all those other IM accounts just to get a fair portion of her contacts on her IM list.

After 6 years of using Google Talk, I have 31 contacts who are mostly my tech-oriented friends. After 9 months of using Whatsapp, I have 61 Whatsapp contacts who includes basically everyone with whom I regularly communicate.

I appreciate Whatsapp's simplicity as it means I can also talk to all my non-techy friends :D

Their is a Gtalk app for IOS and Symbian. And a gtalk app for windows (desktop), no Whatsapp for Windows though.
So for me, gtalk is doing a much better job in the "Cross-platform" department than Whatsapp.
And as bonus, I can phone Gtalk to Gtalk for free.

There most definitely is no official Gtalk app for Symbian. I used Symbian the past two years and had to use Nimbuzz to connect to Gtalk.

As far as I know, there is no official Gtalk app for iOS either. From what I gather from the web, iOS users are recommended to use the browser-based Gtalk gadget. GTalk is not listed here and the issue has been discussed here.

For an IM app to be successful, it needs to be easy to use for the layman, and it just doesn't look like this is the case with Gtalk on all platforms.

As for Symbian, back when I had the e71 and n95 I used Fring as my gtalk client app. Very easy to use and worked great.

All of the above seems very easy to install and use, no need to make gtalk off as something that you need a science degree to install.

Doesn't that defeat the object of a single cross platform app though...?
