Got whatsapp installed on my iPad but not working...
Jailbreak your iPad and in Cydia install an app called Whatspad. This app runs in the background, no settings or tweaks.
Then in itunes, download whatsapp and install. Installing directly from the app store on iPad will give an error.
My whatsapp opens on iPad perfectly. Only problem is that it asks for a mobile number to send a code to so that you can register your whatsapp. I already used my cell number to register whatsapp on iPhone. When you try to register on iPad with the same number it will send you new code to register on iPad. Only problem is that this code only works on one whatsapp. If you use this new code to register on iPad, your phones whatsapp becomes inactive (this is if you're using the same mobile number to register on both devices).
Whatsapp works perfectly if you have 2 different mobile numbers. You only need the 2nd number for registration.
Some forums suggest getting a google voice number and then using this number to register. Problem is that google voice (as far as I understand) only works in the us. I tried (stupid) using my mweb voip number but whatsapp gives an error "not a valid south african number".
It seems that the 2 options here are to either use a friends or relatives (who does not use whatsapp) phone number and then using the code send to their mobile number or option 2, buy a cheap sim card, rica, put the sim in your phone, register with this number, use the code sent to this number, take out the sim, throw it in the drawer and put your original sim back in your phone.
You only need the code. The number is not important after registering.
Please keep in mind that my iPad is the wifi only model so if you have the wifi + 3g model you can probably use the sim in the iPad for registration....hehe...in this case...i should have probably started with this...

Why not just buy a second SIM, RICA it and use this for your registration code? I have several unused SIMs lying about at the office and will give it a go

This is why you get an android tablet...

What does buying an android tabled have to do with hacking a piece of software onto a device the software company specifically decided not to support?

I was forced to use whatsapp on my iPad 4 after waiting close to 3 weeks for a replacement 4s.

Works well. In fact more user friendly on the iPad than on the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 5 now so whatsapp in use on the phone but here some screenshots of the whatsapp still installed on the ipad.

looks legit. can you provide the method you used to install?

Whatsapp does not like non GSM voice devices.

We support all Android phones provided they meet the following requirements:

Your Android phone is running Android OS 2.1 or later.
Your Android phone is able to receive SMS or calls during the verification process.

You will also need an adequate data plan in order to receive messages when outside the range of a Wi-Fi network.

We do not support tablets or Wi-Fi only devices at this time.

1.) Jailbreak iPad
2.) Install Whatpad on iPad available off Cydia
3.) Download Whatsapp app on pc/iTunes
4.) Install iPhone configuration utility on pc
5.) Connect iPad to pc, run iPhone utility, choose install Whatsapp
6.) Launch Whatsapp on iPad and use mobile number of your choice to authenticate.

You will have issues the next time you try sync your iPad. It will remove Whatsapp. Just reinstall using the iPhone configuration utility or alternatively don't sync.

No, as whatsapp says they do not support tablets or wifi only devices.

EDIT:

EDIT2:
Which Android devices are supported?

I will fire up the nexus tonight then and see how it works.

Guy at work has Galaxy Tab 10.1 (not rooted) and play store says unsupported for him.
