WhatsApp problems on Vodacom network since 28 June 2011

Same here. Some messages show one checkmark while later messages to the same person show two. Those messages are never delivered. Vodacom and CellC both do it, it looks more like a WhatsApp issue to me.
 
Ok, so we have established Whatsapp is screwed with no fix in site, great stuff........
 
I'm spit-balling here but we've had a lot of complaints around WhatsApp draining the battery. It seems to be polling quite frequently (to simulate push-notification) and it could well be that they changed the background polling frequency to resolve the battery issue.
 
Watsapp connection problems in CT anyone else?!?

Since last night in the city bowl area and now souther suburbs, I still can't connect with Vlive.. using the office wifi atm...

Anyone else? Frustrating.. Sms' chow my airtime.. Long distance relationship too :P

is only whatsapp not working or all your browsing?
and check you version of whats app if its not 2.6.23 then download the latest version sometimes that causes issues
 
Ah it's 2.06(23) ? It's the one from Ovi store from a few days ago..?

I'll check browsing here and back at home, thnx.

This is way out there, but Is there by any chance your phone is assuming you are roaming that's why whatsapp is only working with wifi, check you location setting on the phone maybe you set in a different country? click on the clock it would be the easiest place to check

FYI The Symbian anna update is out you might want to update your N8 OS, have to do it with ovi suite though

Umm, I thiiink it switches between GSM and 3G.. or I can set it to either, Dual Mode..

Didn't get a disk in the package? Aw man does it mean I'm gonna lose all my data and stuff and have to start over like a hard reset!?!?

When I check through settings-phone management-device updates, it says no updates available..

mmmm what I meant is this might be a Nokia problem. The reason why I say that is cause Apple and Android phones have their own push servers that will push new Gmail and WhatsApp messages to your phone as they are sent to you. I have a friend that is using a Android phone on Vodacom and when I send him a message it is delivered *snaps fingers*....just like that. I have not been able to find details on Nokia Push servers...hence why I asked if anyone knows how Nokia's push service works??

Maybe wen Anna becomes available it'll help *shrugs* Oh well..

Nopeyou wont lose everything :)
just download ovi suite from nokia, but its a moerste large updae (almost 200MB in total - its a 3 step process -check out the n8 ) its not currently availble OTa sorry and i know the guys with vodacom branded phones cant update as yet

I dont know it cant be your n8 as i am using one (on mtn) and it cant be a combination of both vodacom and nokia since my wife is using her x6 for whats app.
Dud you got me stumped i have no idea why its not working for you.
Any chance you have another network sim that you can put into the n8 you can test if it works then

Aaargh, I think it IS a Vodacom branded phone!! :(

I think it's just possibly because Cape Town upper City Bowl (Devil's Peak for me) has F@#$@#$ crap reception, ..it's a bloody nightmare!!!!!

Thanks though guys, I'll keep checking periodically if it becomes available.. :/

signal shouldnt be an issue my old place had horrible net speeds but whatsapp worked fine

do me a favour (an i am going back to my roaming theory) under the settings in whatsapp under network, the 3rd option cellular when roaming, enable it (the default is disabled (use wifi)) and try if it works?

Ok it was working last night!!!!!! A lil glitchy at times, but managed to communicate.. I will try your solution if it starts acting up again!!!
Thanks dude!! Hopefully if it does (which I expect :/ ), then that might solve it... :)
