WhatsApp problems on Vodacom network since 28 June 2011

aha hence the reason it butchers the batery on nokia :D
 
Now if I could just get the friggin Anna update!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vodacom helloooooooo!??!?!?!?!?!?!

Oh and thanks Isie for the battery info, it's big on my list of things, so I've set it to use only wi-fi when at the office automatically..

Oh yeah, I too get the message lag, then when you start using it, BOOM! 40 new messages....
 
can users that has Android phones and Iphones that has dedicated push servers serving their phones do some testing please so we can see if it is a Vodacom or a Nokia issue?

Im starting to think its a setting on these users phones, my wife and a couple of my budies (on vodacom) are using Whatsapp on nokia phones and they not having any problems whatsover
my wife (we chat the whole day on whats app) has an x6 and budies c5 (the cheap one :) ), e72, n8, 5800xm and a few others

no delay on messages or problems

Well, whatsapp have been releasing new Symbian versions at quite a pace in the past month. I'm on 2.6.36 now, and they even pulled a few versions from their site, going back to previous releases...

Perhaps, in an attempt to catchup to the Android and Apple apps, the Symbian one keeps getting Fudged? Makes sense to me,
although i have heard of Android users also experiencing the Message Floods every now and again.

EDIT: 2.6.37 is out...

WhatsApp do experience outages now and again...this will affect Android and Apple phones. What network are these Android users on that you are referring to?
 
On my Nokia 5230 whatsapp does seem to "die" at times, and it in turn stops phone calls from coming through. All I do is restart the phone and everything is normal again. This only happens once every few weeks though.

This happens to me while on work wifi. This makes sense since the firewalls block incoming connections. On home wifi and mobile internet it works perfectly.

Now... I have a friend that is having the same problem but on Vodacom. Nokia device with Symbian.

It acts the same way as when I am on my work wifi. Messages are only received when she physically interacts with the device. i.e it seems the push notification only works if the device was recently woken up.

Anyone have suggestions for this?
