WhatsApp voice calling is here (for Android)

Is there anyway of identifying if a user is on a wifi network?
 
No delay for me, tried from wifi to another person on wifi and wifi to mobile data, both were perfect quality.

And for what its worth I didn't have to download a new apk, it just became available this morning on my existing app from the Play Store.
 
Tried it this afternoon and it's awful! Huuuuuge lag. Massive influx of users today? Local ISPs throttling?
 
Well I'm set to leave to overseas in a few days, lag or not this means no more international rates when calling SA...

I received a WhatsApp call last week from a friend, the call quality was fine... there were those moments of lag.

Hehehe... If you don't reply to WhatsApp messages, expect a WhatsApp call :D

This. Phoned my wife from hotel WiFi while overseas. Can handle a second or two delay when it's free!
 
Apparently call centre numbers come up indicating that it could be a cold call with it? Can anyone confirm?
 
Anyone know how to set whatsapp to use your voice line when selecting the phone icon.

Mine automatically uses the built in voip which is highly frustrating.
 
Can we try isolate which networks are having delay issues by standardizing our feedback.
Here is a suggested template.

Network: Cell C
Connection Type: 3G
Device: Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
OS: Android 4.2.2
Delay: 3 seconds
Comments: Terrible delay.
 
I have been using whatsapp on Wi-Fi for international calls, and quality is great. No noticeable lag. I did test it with someone in the next room the lag is measurable as I hear the person over the air before hearing them through the phone. But as long as the other person is out of earshot, I can't tell there is a lag. I have managed to cut my Cell C bill to just above the contract amount.

Samsung (not sure of model)
Not sure of Android version, lower than 4.0 though
