WhatsApp

I installed WhatsApp and at first it looked great - populated my contact list automagically and everything.
However, after about 4 days of sending messages to people and not getting any responses, I found out through other means that more than half the people in my WhatsApp contact list don't even HAVE WhatsApp installed. Some of them had never even heard of it.

Where did all those messages go then?

Still on the WhatsApp server.

I have the latest version of WhatsApp installed & it purges all dead contacts from the contact list. Works properly on my Desire HD.

I agree, i'm just backing up what marine1 said. If you don't minimise and just chat away for hours, it will drain the battery more.

On an Android phone, if you put in the background or not use your phone for a while; the app should kill itself.

i'm gonna be honest here, i got whatsapp on iphone and i think it's terrible.. i dont get any notifications if someone msg's me and it only works if i have the app open so i cant do anything else on the phone.. maybe im doind something wrong?

Yes you are. Enable notifications (esp. push) via Settings - Whatsapp.

Whatsapp on iPhone is quite simply awesome!

Go to your Settings menu and see if there are anything you can configure for WhatsApp....there should be.

ohh thanks gents.. found it under notifications. sounds, alerts and badges were all off..

Before installing whatsapp my phone would go a week without having to be charged (brand new battery), but when i installed it the battery would last two days max...

I also noticed that because of those stupid status updates that noone ****ing cares for (well at least me) had to keep updating throughout the night, by the next morning i was short R2... R2 just for sitting there doing nothing in the middle of the night? No thank you...
Maybe if it had the ability to only work when you wanted it to, like my email, then it would be alright

Whatsapp has saved me so muh money its not even funny. Using it on iPhone 4 and its awesome.

I've reset my stats in the app a couple of times already, but so far i've sent and recieved 1894 messages and it's used up 6,2MB.
With a data bundle that would not even have used up R10.
My girlfriend is using it on an Symbian phone, another friend on blackberry, and it works awesome.

Also haven't even noticed any extra battery usage.
I get 25 sms free on my contract but i just barely use them all in an entire month haha

Now i just gotta get my friends to use skype and i'm set! Hehe

I've used it for the last couple of months on my X6 and since that was stolen my 5800 and I have been more than happy with it; I haven't noticed any large decrease in battery life and I've saved so much money in sms charges. The only problem is that paying $2 for it in a couple of years is going to be a mission...

I agree it is a great app. I have it installed on my BB 8900 and it works well. Battery life on my phone was not affected either - I use the phone a lot and get 24 hours battery life - not great but acceptable for the amount I use it.
