What the heck???? This has to be the worst version of WA on any platform.

(Specifically talking about the WP7.5 version).

  • It takes at least 5 seconds to boot up.
  • Freezes halfway through typing something
  • Often fails to identify WA-enabled contacts in my list
  • Confusing layout between sections
  • Just general crapness.

Is this just me?

Nope working fine here on my trusty N8.

What OS you running? Try downloading WA again. Usually fixes the problem.

Works fine on my S3, but I did have to reinstall it to get it to register my contacts properly - it refused to refresh...

That's what you get for using a Windows phone :D
/facepalm.

Anyway, yeah it isn't great. It's improved recently - and they are aware how **** everyone says it is. So I guess they are working on it.

Why not use native IM = Messenger to this OS instead of the crappy other brands. Ms Messenger has improved, works for me.

Because nobody else on earth uses MS Messenger but everyone is on whatsapp. It's a critical mass sort of thing.

Somebody still uses MSN?

It's not called MSN anymore, it's messenger. And it's actually a really good service. And it had tons of users, yes.
Plus it's natively built into WP7 and W8, so there isn't any reason to not use it.

Tnx and you said as it should be, these clever bod's really do not know of the many changes for the better and improved Messenger platform. It beats the others by far, been with it for many years.

It doesn't matter if it's the best messaging platform ever seen, if nobody uses it it's worthless.

Are you a Windows user and do you know people that use Windows?
If yes, in the next X amount of years, are you going to install Windows 8?
If yes, there you are the same as millions and millions of other people.
The same people who will now have a messenging app pre-installed.

EDIT: From a while back, ignoring the facts above, they still had an insanely big market.
Windows Live Messenger accounts for just over 40% of the installed IM applications, followed by Skype, which accounts for more than a quarter of the installations

Don't group everyone into your small little world.

Ok dude I'm not trying to stir anything up. This is my wife's phone, she's very happy with it, but she has like a million friends on Whatsapp and she's getting pretty frustrated because that's the whole reason she upgraded. Now she's talking about swapping for an Android or an iPhone just so she can have a stable Whatsapp. Messenger just isn't an alternative for her.
