What exactly is it that I am wasting my time & effort in iBurst Treads?
So are you basically saying that all iBurst clients should leave and look for another ISP?

well how much times does a bee need to sting you before you learn to get away from the hive?

ofcourse thats what im saying.

It would seem that, from your recent posts, you're agitated because of what Jannie have said.

It is easy to say/post something which you may regret later, my advice is to chill out a bit, and think (carefully) of what your next reply will be. ;)

You haven't transgressed, or did anything wrong so far :)

On pricing as a general point, and outside of a generic 'we want everything cheaper' :), what are the suggestions from you guys?

Wireless package:

A R199 for 5GB month-2-month package (excluding modem),

then R49 per 1GB top up. R199 per 1GB top up is ridiculous.

You do that, you blow the competition away. (You gain more clients).

You asked, I suggested...;)

If it were THAT good, even I would go to iBurst.

but.....yeah.... we know where this idea will end up - in the corporates' trash bin.

My advice to you would be : Can we afford to delete posts on myBB and yet retain our credibility?

So where exactly in this universe you live in did this conversation take place?

am i the only one, that has noticed that under the new CEO iburst has been worse then ever?

and all he can do is TALK about fixing the billing system.
and TALK about what the customer wants in new deals.

So thats 9am-5pm, every day for 23 working days last month.

How about you go into work tomorrow and say "Ok boys, were changing the billing system today, have it done by 5pm.thanks."

and then you say to product "ok product, what are your best ideas?"

and then in 2-3 days once all the bugs are ironed out, you implement the packages.

AND 20 days left in the month... what to do, what to do. hmmm, staff training and competence training for maybe 2 days.Fire dead weight for 1 day.then promote shaun the next day.

hmmm 15 days left. what to do, what to do.

Hi Avert,

I think you are looking at things a bit simplistic.

Change is usually associated with a lot of initial problems - and some businesses indeed don't survive this phase. The reason is simply: Any change shakes the tree and a lot of rotten fruits tend to fall from the branches to the ground where they are highly visible.

Jannie asked what the major issue was, and the feedback from this Geekloaded forum was BILLING. It must be real bad if a forum loaded with technical people blast billing rather than technical issues as being the worst of the issues at hand.

Jannie then went ahead and took the issue identified by TECHIES and is running with it.

To replace an accounting /Billing system is a massive project for a company with 100 000 odd clients - especially if the current data set is clouded with a lot of problems that came to the fore during the past month. How accurate is the data for instance? (Last time I checked, I'm due for an upgrade since May2009, in spite of having done an upgrade in April this year!)

The fact that Jannie announced today that they are almost ready to do a dry billing run (a slight bit more than a month he took over the reigns) is WELL DONE.

Most of the problems which arose were due to problems that were hidden well away in the old system. Under pressure people will blunder. They will forget about all the hidden corrections etc before doing a "cleansing excersise" - especially if Jannie is staring down the cubicles :)

At least the new boss took responsibility for many of the blunders. And indeed it seems as if the stinking elephant is worked away bit by bit at a good speed.

And yes, I've been a victim as well (though minor): Something went wrong with the DO run, and the DO did not go off as required. Instead of sending a nice e-mail to tell me about the problem, accounts sent a curt threatening e-mail. They included the banking details, but forgot to mention how much I should pay to get rid of the threats. Thanks Shaun for steering the problem to a very nice end. Hope the DO did go through this month.

The main pity is that new products/price adjustments downward (I assume) are delayed due to the billing problems. But I do agree - sort out billing before releasing more problematic new products!

The bells and whistles are all well and good, but if I had to trade, I'd take more bandwidth any day. Yes, "We want more for less" really is what its all about. Bandwidth and price remains a big issue in this country. Everything else is smoke and mirrors to this. Its no use just talking about it in general terms like is just the way the consumer is anywhere in the world. The fact is that South Africans are sick of being fleeced in this regard (as well as with regard to bank charges, car prices, pipes, bread, cameras, etc). Telkom effectively stole from us for years and years and the feeling is bad, really bad, and consumers have become as cynical and suspicious about big business as they are about politicians. I'd take a cheaper Telkom deal if I didn't hate Telkom so much. And yes, it is Telkom we are comparing iBurst to. I don't even think about about the cellular oligopoly here.

And, please, keep it simple and straightforward. Compare Virgin money with any other credit card in the country: Virgin has a list of about 8 items while the rest have pages of it and each item is a bloody mathematical equation. Its classic price opacity. I hate the way Telkom rearranges its prices to make them look cheaper when they aren't - and then they bald-faced lie about it too. Anyone who looks out the window at the rest of the world can see its its a lie.

The way I see it, this is an opportunity for iBurst to show some leadership, swim upstream a bit, show Telkom up for what they are. iBurst will be pleasantly surprised by the wave of goodwill.

Thanks for listening.

:erm: Good post, but, what pipes are you talking about?

"I'd take a cheaper Telkom deal if I didn't hate Telkom so much."

It's ok, there's nothing to be ashamed about on the dark side...

"this is an opportunity for iBurst to show some leadership, swim upstream a bit, show Telkom up for what they are. iBurst will be pleasantly surprised by the wave of goodwill."

*Applause in agreement*
