When will iBurst drop prices...?

@kaspaas
well now that you are done brown nosing.

It has been 1 month.
More then enough to to straighten out a wayward business.Atleast so we can see some improvement.

also LOL @ 100 000 clients. wow that sure is alot. im pretty sure all those people are in a database. so moving them from one accounting systems database to another accounting systems database with the help of techies is what, like 1 day maybe 3 days max.

i hate how people think business is so hard.
Do something in the required timeline, or get fired or lose the tender. easy as that.

Tired of talk. Want some action.

Or maybe they have implemented new price on packages and just have told no one... hmmm sounds familiar doesnt it.

IMO iBurst is also playing the waiting game. They'll try to get away with their current packages as long as it is profitable to do so.

Wireless package:

A R199 for 5GB month-2-month package (excluding modem),

then R49 per 1GB top up. R199 per 1GB top up is ridiculous.

You do that, you blow the competition away. (You gain more clients).

You asked, I suggested...;)

Fug, yeah, if Jannie sent me a modem and a burglar proof external antenna, and fixed the terms as above for me for 5 years, even I would switch to iBurst. But there are still the connectivity issues...

The pipes? I was referring to the price-fixing scandal exposed in the Mail & Guardian a few weeks ago - plastic and concrete piping.

Okay, okay... Fixed.

Is that too much to ask?

I'm paying now R449 for 3GB and R199 for 1GB top up....

Aah, missed that one. Stopped reading M&G; but maybe time to start again seeing they have a new editor.

Oh, hello VJB. I have a theory for you. SA is full of monopolies and oligopolies because of Apartheid. Its simple: Apartheid stifled competition by prohibiting black-owned business outside the bantustans and giving NAT government support to NAT-preferred businesses and ensuring NAT control. Once you have a monopoly or a brotherhood of monopolies on your back, it is extremely difficult to get rid of, so, what we have in the telecoms industry is an Apartheid legacy.

A great historical example is the wheat industry. In the late 1800's wheat was widely grown by black South Africans and in Lesotho. Lesotho was called the grainery of SA. Wheat prices were low. Then, as part of the pre-Nationalist, Apartheid policies, restrictions were placed on black-owned land (the Land Act Nr.27 of 1913) and white farmers were propped up by the government and government grain bodies were set up which did preferential buying. Wheat prices rose and black farmers, now without an income starved and had to go and work on the mines.

40 MB "A Joke" = R49 Change to "Get rid of this Package"

500 MB Playa = R149 Change to R49

1 gig Giga = R199 Change to R99

3 gig Pro = R449 Change to R299

5 gig Xtreme = R599 Change to R399

10 gig Addict = R999 Change to R599

Month-2-Month (excludes modem)

These are my suggestions, and they are reasonable.

I'd stay on with iBurst for that, but lets always keep in mind how this compares with prices in other parts of the world.

Sure, compared to the rest of the world, we are still in the Ice Age...:D

When one look at the other threads popping up it appears as if iBurst's 'billing system sort out' is more a drive in trying to collect old outstanding debt.

OK, a few points:

@Gecko: seems you had a slow day today with not much else to do but ask for links. :) I'm sorry I can now only reply, kinda busy over here, just came out my last meeting for the day and still need to go and find some supper.

Not sure if you've noticed but there are many tables posted on this forum comparing pricing (it's kinda what myADSL is all about), but I'll do one for you. It's all on the vendor web-sites as well. Actually, I posted one a few days ago somewhere here. But if you want links in the mean time can I suggest: http://www.telkom.co.za, http://www.iburst.co.za, http://www.mtn.co.za, http://www.vodacom.co.za, http://www.neotel.co.za, etc. I know they all have the prices on them.

@Libs: Pre-paid at PnP is nearly here, probably next month. Pre-paid system is currently in user-trail. Shout if you want to join the test program.

@Kaspaas & Rudi: Although we do compare pricing with fixed-line (and it compares well), you must remember it's still a mobile radio network. Even if you don't use it as such.

@avert; Please pass me your CV urgently. If you can build me a new billing system in 3 days, I absolutely will pay you R1M per day. No jokes. When can you start? If you can come in tomorrow, I'll give you the spec.

/added/

If Gecko won't mind, I'm going home now and will probably get a burger along the way. Please don't feel offended if I don't immediately reply to posts in the next hour or two.

So iBurst is at the bottom of those tables then (384 Kb/s)?

Well what's the point in making a little cameo on this forum then?
And please do not compare iBurst with Vodacom or MTN..
