When will iBurst drop prices...?

Er... No single people in your area then? :D

Lol...:D

These days 3GB is a joke, 10GB should be the norm.

Maybe we should organize a toyi-toyi outside iBurst offices,
it works for the municipality workers, it should work for us.

I will not provide a date. But this month will introduce something new.

Jannie and Marketing will do the release and on the same day it will hit the forums.

Okay, okay we will be patient.

So August is the month, cool....;)

Anyone here sold an iBurst modem before (the kind you stick in your window)? What do they go for second hand?

As opposed to the kind you throw out your window? :D

Hi all.

They are busy with their new Product release coming soon and everything else has gone onto the backburner till the end of next week.

Sorry. This new product is taking the higlight right now.

No....I am not going to say what it is. Marketing and Product are very busy with the release plans.

Lets wait for the normal channel.

Thanks

So next week then.

Hi guys.

Sorry guys, I will not provide a date. But this month will introduce something new. Jannie and Marketing will do the release and on the same day it will hit the forums.

Thanks.

So this month then.;)

So next ... then :confused::confused:

One a more serious note.
A good question that you raise...

To tie in with that:
What is the the latest cancellation date on a month-to-month contract for it to be effectively canceled at the end of a month?

Now we are hearing that iBurst "will introduce something new" "this month".
Since we have no inkling of what "something new" will consist of, we do not know if it will even benefit current subscribers.
So it could be a brand new product or even a Wi-MAX offering. Those would certainly be "something new".
We also have no date on when this offering will be made public.

There have been 'hints' and a lot of speculation in these forums that the 'new product' would be released at the beginning of this month.
Despite all of the discussion regarding this in these forums, iBurst has seen fit to only inform us today that it would be released "this month".

So what do we have?
A statement that a "something new" will be introduced "this month".
No product details and no date in other words.

Vague to say the least.

LOL - "as opposed to the the kind you throw out the window".

R1000 bucks is a lot more that I thought.

Who wants to bet that this new product has nothing to do with bandwidth and price. Look at the way the local cellphone industry works, Vodacom in particular: all these extra bells and whistles and ringtones and free cars and free this and that like your air time is actually a Lotto ticket - all this stuff to distract you from the real issue - price. I can't make up my mind if its like eating at MacDonalds and they give you a free little wind-up Ronald MacDonald, or if its like watching a Verimark ad: "but wait, there's more ... this set of knives comes with a free cheese knife ... and if you buy now we throw in a free watchamagerritjie to sharpen them" (because you sure as hell are gonna need it).

We'll see; we wait ...

[sarc]And that's not all. If you call 0800-I-want-it now and order the new package right now, they'll throw in a 56K dial-up modem with drivers optimised for Windows XP SP2&3, and Vista...[/sarc]

But seriously, what do yous ous think of the the Dial-a-Nerd thing? Or should I ask what your mother thinks of it?

Oh, but I didn't see this as a personal attack on me. I pointed out to you that 5GB is rubbish, it is NOTHING.

+1

Just surfing alone I use 120MB a night, sure, I'm a 'power user' but that's a tiny bit of Youtube, lots of reading, getting a few app updates, keeping up to date with RSS feeds, image heavy surfing.. I don't subscribe to any magazines or DSTV, so all my entertainment comes via online, and I haven't even bothered to make use of much streamed video content, nor do I play online games (no time, tho I miss America's Army)

Many people have this mindset that 1GB is a lot of traffic. Sure, my parents can make do with 400MB a month, but that's e-mail, banking, reading a few news sites, maybe 2 Youtube videos a month etc;

Being a sysadmin, I frequently have to explain to the Powers That Be (TM) where our bandwidth is going, and no - it's not users leeching torrents, mp3s and whatnot, it's just work-related surfing, the odd bit of FB (I don't block it, since people here are quite good at regulating themselves), app updates, work-related downloads, email etc; etc; .. it's just nonsense how much bandwidth costs.

There is absolutely cr@p loads of free, legal content available, sadly - most of the stuff I'd like to make use of, would just nuke my cap.

Welcome to South frikkin' Africa, folks.

I am in a Development environment myself.
Apart from all the other things you mention there are new CTP builds of upcoming products as well as Trial versions being released on an ongoing basis.
Sadly in the case of Server, OS and Dev Environment Tools to download most of these would simply nuke my cap.
Not to mention video..

TBH...I force myself to stay within my cap. I used to to use the 64kbps to download the larger things I want, but can't remember the last time I've downloaded a new game trial, I now just buy the PCFormat and play what ever they have on there. I sponge my latest drivers from friends 'cause I want to save my cap to make sure that one day in a month I can catch up on all the saved youtube links without waiting 3hours for one to load. I am a DSTV subscriber and have access to that online thingie they offer...guess what, I logged in once and decided to not log in again to make sure my cap is saved. I have more examples where I need to find ways to do what I like doing, but I think you guys get my point.

Just like some of the other guys on here, I too want more cap for reasons that goes beyond some bootleg cd. I'm not using the net as it evolves...and if one doesn't move forward with the world but stand still, you are effectively moving back.

yep, sucks not being able to watch live streams or having to explain to people that you cant raid because your capped speed is the same as a 56k modem.

Im hoping iBurst come out with a bing bang, as the only thing that will keep me there is an unshaped package in the region of 6gigs for the current 3gb price, or an uncapped package for R600ish. This might sound optimistic but they have to make up somewhere for their ****ty speeds, service and lackluster attitude when it comes to fixing problems.

Bah, even if they do offer something jaw dropping amazing it probably wont be worth the effort because of their insane amounts of downtime and arguing involved.

Bring back the techies from Thailand or wherever they were from that made iBurst a delight to use when it first arrived.
