Good one. Mine is more simple.

Double or tripple the cap - hopefully the latter. OR make softcap speed 38KB/sec - like the slowest ADSL - heck make it only that AFTER-HOURS.
Or make boosters same price as cheap ADSL boosters - keep the shaping if you will - if WebAfrica or Axxess can afford cheap boosters why can't iBurst?

God I hope not, I am not one of the gimme more for less crowd. While I believe their topup rates are ludicrous I am hoping they have Bolt-on options like late night uncapped or extra 64k out of cap etc. There is lots they can do with just a 1Mb Conn just gotta be creative

I can see a big disappointment coming our way.

It's like waiting for the big box-office hit from the US, only to walk out the cinema and say, "Was that it?, gee, I was expecting more".
 
Well i reckon all the Iburst users will be Happy with the Following (and please, anyone is more than welcome to comment)

1. More Cap for your same subscription price.
2. Allowing little "relaxed" shaping after hours (Maybe allowing 96K or 128K after hours)
3. Allowing higher speeds on local contents (Speed limit the International CAP when your cap is reached , but allow higher speeds on local downloads/sites)


I'm all ears , Think Shaun will also want the people's opinion :)

Sounds good but with SEACOM and additional SAT-3 capacity there is an abundance of international capacity. There never really was a shortage as the local ISPs and Telscum were very stingy in what they allowed. What the problem really is now, we hear, is that there is a backhaul problem - the links WITHIN SA are thin and with cheap international pipes pricing won't be coming down because people who were giving out super expensive 1-3GB caps to South Africans had no need to upgrade their internal networks to allow for the advantages of int'l b/w.

The local roads are cr@ppy and congested while the national freeways have been upgraded by a few lanes, you still need to traverse the local and municipal roads before you can get on the National freeway.
 
AAAAARGH!!! Another day another lack of announcement. While Shaun said August, I will be patient. BUT IF YOU GUYS DO COME TO THE PARTY I WILL GO NUTS AND TEARS MY HAIR OUT. Oh and secondly I will burn Iburst hq to the ground. MWAHAHAHAHA
 
The deal was that they first get their billing system sorted out this month. Next month they will look into / anounce any package changes...
 
I applaud the 'iBurst system upgrade this weekend'.
The billing system overhaul is critical to any future success for iBurst in the long term.
I wish iBurst the best of luck to finally get their billing sorted.

This is surely however a separate issue to 'When will iBurst drop prices...?'.
Is it thus safe to assume that we will still see new products and/or packages offering better value for money during August 2009?

Practically, I would venture no.

As IRG said above, we're going live this weekend with the new systems and assuming it does not all go nuclear on Monday/Tuesday (i.e. it's full steam ahead), we'll go into a 'bedding-down' phase. That will most likely get us to the end of August.

Once I'm happy the system is stable, we can load new products onto it.

But this does not mean we cannot PLAN already. Thus all the questions and discussions on the forum the last few weeks. ;)
