Where is 702 leading us?

Agree with OP. There's a definite undertone of ANC meddling and ANC agenda on 702.

Hardly surprising with Tokyo Sexwale owning a big chunk of Primedia and his daughter working there.

Most of the moans on here echo my feelings about 702/567 although I feel that Redi is far and away the best presenter on the station. She always knows her subject and and is never afraid to ask hard questions - so much so that I sometimes wonder how long she will last there. She is a bit like Martin Baillie who said it like it was and made no friends for being honest.

John Maytham and Kate Turkington are so politically correct that they have to believe that it is possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

The nine hour ordeals of Golden Oldies on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays have become switch-off time for me.

The LeadSA ads get up my nose when I recall that elsewhere they use the language of street corner slobs - "Your listening to Cape Talk".

Complaints/suggestions to Cape Talk are seldom answered and then not properly addressed or ignored completely.

One regular caller from Ficksburg is a royal pain and always has me switch stations when I hear his voice. Another one is radically anti-Israel and separates every sentence with the phrase "you know".

All in all, the station has lost a lot of its earlier appeal and I listen a lot less these days - and particularly nights.

Prime Media presenters are ALL brand-whores... their opinions can be paid-for advertorials if you pay their management company's going rate.

You hear their ads on 702... with the tag-line... "Prime Talent, let our fame make your fortune"

PrimeTalent is the talent management company for Primedia Broadcasting which owns radio stations, Talk Radio 702, 567 CapeTalk, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5Kfm

I listen to Tuks FM and stay happy. I would rather listen to Sarina talking about how "stout" she is and then discuss something sexual in a very innocent manner. Why contaminate the mind with heavy thoughts, which is just about all that 702 is good at?

There's a definite undertone of paranoia in your head.
Are you a psychiatrist?

Meaning ?

Simple example:
Jenny Crwys-Williams believes Julius Malema is "A charming young man".
John Robbie believes he is "very intelligent".

Listen to much 702? Not asking tongue in cheek - I'd genuinely like to know if I'm the only person with this opinion.

I blame Jacaranda - I could listen to them all day until the last year or so.

JR: Mostly crap, sensationalist at times, likes to champion his own causes BUT he does get results for those causes. I listen for about 15 minutes or so (traffic report) before DEATHMETAL rocks my iPod. If I get up late and only start my day at 8-ish I enjoy the 321 Quiz

Redi: I agree with the boring assessments but I do in fact enjoy Fridays with that clever guy and the Week that Wasn't. Those I listen to.

Chris: I listen sometimes (like when my radio is still on from the 321 earlier)

JCW: Thank you Barney Simon for being the last decent talent left on Jacaranda so I do not have to listen to this irritating dolt. She reminds me of the Queen Mother - always smiling, despite looking like one of those crabs that wear disguises.

Do'S - Sorry Dave, in the pub by then.

As for the rest: what tossers!

So, I have recently started taking in Mix FM

What makes you think 702 (primedia) as a company ought to be opposed to government? They are not a political party & can't be seen as such. They are supposed to be objective (not that they are - but pretending is good enough). Lead SA is not a opposition campaign against the government or their projects - you are very misguided.

I've never said that they should be opposed to government or that they are a political party - please quote me and make bold those statements. There are some seriously wrong things around the tolling but 702 are actually subversive in their support for the process but at the same time seeming to be on the side of their listenership (although I am sure there are a few listeners who do think that the tolling is the next best thing).

How do you bleat on about saving electicity (or whatever than dumb notion is) but still have lights shining on billboards?

John Robbie had said that refusing to get an etag was illegal and had to retract that statement because of the response he got from listeners. Redi Thlabi (?) said she was going to 'be legal' and get an etag but at the last minute. It is not a legal requirement to have an etag but we already know that there are plenty of sheep in this country. And the current message from 702 is that people are resigning themselves to the fact that tolling will happen.

At the risk of sounding like I wear tin foil hats, I do think that there is an element of social engineering taking place.

I really enjoyed Material, thought it was pretty good - just the ending could have been better. Out of interest, the guy that played the father in the movie also plays the father in the Kumars :)

Yep - but he had the fakest beard of all fake beards in the history of fake beards. And they tried to copy the grandmother from the Kumars without any success.

My point is really about what other movie has been punted as much (if at all)?
