Where is 702 leading us?

They have different views to yours. It does not mean they are pro-ANC.

Those were both qualified statements and you are quoting them out of context.
JR has said that underestimating him by thinking he is stupid is dangerous.

JR went on a rant about how clever Julius is. Nothing to quote "out of context". He used the word"intelligent".

Similarly Jenny went on a tangent about the awesomeness that is Julius.
 
We had Udo on this morning, clearly suggesting that civil disobedience is the way to bring the toll system to its knees - so there doesn't appear to be a common policy at 702/567.

Most of the moans on here echo my feelings about 702/567 although I feel that Redi is far and away the best presenter on the station. She always knows her subject and and is never afraid to ask hard questions - so much so that I sometimes wonder how long she will last there. She is a bit like Martin Baillie who said it like it was and made no friends for being honest.

John Maytham and Kate Turkington are so politically correct that they have to believe that it is possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

The nine hour ordeals of Golden Oldies on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays have become switch-off time for me.

The LeadSA ads get up my nose when I recall that elsewhere they use the language of street corner slobs - "Your listening to Cape Talk".

Complaints/suggestions to Cape Talk are seldom answered and then not properly addressed or ignored completely.

One regular caller from Ficksburg is a royal pain and always has me switch stations when I hear his voice. Another one is radically anti-Israel and separates every sentence with the phrase "you know".

All in all, the station has lost a lot of its earlier appeal and I listen a lot less these days - and particularly nights.

702 lost their appeal for me way back in the early 80's (I think it was then), when they stop being "music radio" and became "talk radio". A total waste of an FM signal to be talking kak all day and talking phone calls from societies idiots.

A radio presenter is only needed to give the name of the song and artist. If they need to say more it should only be a bit of extra info about the artist. Otherwise shut the f up and play the music.

Because there aren't enough music radio stations already? Personally, I rather enjoy talk radio. If I wanted to listen to music, I'd simply listen to CDs or MP3s and not be subjected to the generally poor taste of someone else that is driven by how much they're getting paid to play the same song fifty million times a day.

I accept that a lot of people like talk radio, but it's not something I can, or even want to, relate to.

I don't know about the music radio setup in SA now, but at that time there wasn't a whole lot of choice. It was 702 or 5fm and 5fm wouldnt play songs deemed not suitable for the fragile listeners.

Things are different now and with the advent of mp3 players you can download and listen to anything,

Btw, there are satellite radio channels all over the world that use the exact format I liked about the original 702 format. I often tune my Sky to them, one called Planet Rock. In my car I play my iPhone through my Bluetooth
