Where the DA got your number

I am still baffled as to the uproar this has caused. Cold calls and spam SMSs happen all year round but suddenly now it is a unacceptable problem when Political parties use it too?

+1

It's because of the intensity of it. I alone got 13 cold calls, two real calls and 8 SMS'es all since 9 o' clock this morning.

Telemarketers aren't even this desperate.

Exactly right. One call/SMS would have been enough. Any more is annoying and probably pissing off potential voters.

Telemarketers are only trying to sell you insurance.

Even a Jehova's Witness would get peed off if other J W's came knocking all the time.
Same with vegetarians having vegans constantly proclaim.

Not everyone is an 17 year old glued to their phone, and used to endless drivel texts to delete.

My phone is my phone, like my ear, and I really do not wish for drivel to enter unabated.
I have it on in case a friend may wish to talk, or needs help, others ought use discretion when communicating with me and 'if at all 'is part of this discretion....like where and when to practice playing your bagpipes.

It is amusing that everyone excuses the DA for doing this. If it was an insurance salesman spamming people ten times a day there would be no quarter asked or given.

Have a spare number and give that number out when you have to give your phone number to anyone (except where you really do want them to call you)...and that will eliminate a lot of spam. I keep that phone off....well..the battery dies and I only charge it once or twice a month.

When has cold calling ever been acceptable?
Speak for yourself.

Well it costs money to send these messages. Some random stranger is hardly going to SMS millions of people telling them to vote DA.

The ANC also sent me 3 messages so they can get stuffed as well. Go EFF!

Lol...
I get being miffed with something, but deciding the future of the country based on spam. I hate spam as much as the next person, but...

Or just give someone else's number out?
