Where the DA got your number

I do get DA spam but just got an ANC sms while reading this. :D

Now, I can understand the DA getting hold of my number somehow since I voted for them before and have been on their site. But how the bloody FSCK did the ANC get mine.

/requests media to make a big deal out this
As I was reading your post my tablet vibrated. Same message.

Also just got the ANC spam. Seems like they waited for the last minute before flooding everyone...

I am still baffled as to the uproar this has caused. Cold calls and spam SMSs happen all year round but suddenly now it is a unacceptable problem when Political parties use it too?

Its unacceptable when the ANC says you will receive 3 ballot forms, and you MUST mark ANC on all 3 for you vote to count.

I know for a fact that the DA either got my number from the RICA database or from CellC themselves. Either way, I'm pretty sure neither of those should've given my details away.

Dont you guys ever tick "No, i do not want to be contacted by third parties" when signing up for stuff? :D

I have never received any texts or calls from either party

This is the part I try and avoid in general so, no, I don't think that's the problem. :p

Legally, if I recall correctly, you have to check 'yes, I want to be contacted'. Ie, you have to opt in, opt out is by default. Maybe wrong, but I'm sure that was the 'laws/rules' passed several years back

Got spam sms from ANC today. The DA used to call me last year but nothing this year.

I don't mind. Not my money they are using to call me. I'm happy to sit there and listen to what you have to say just don't go on for hours.

I have receive ZERO unsolicited calls this year, except for the three from the DA. See the problem with your statement?

I just put the robot on hold and maybe save one other person from a call.

They kept calling me until I threatened them that I will vote EFF if they phone again.

I remember the days when people didn't have to answer their phones :D

Should try it sometime.

Fscking Robogodzille just called now and broke my sleep!
