Question here....

Can I use a 5 Ghz antennae in a 2.4 ghz environment? or vise versa.

I am looking to purchase an antennae to use on the wug and maybe other future uses but would like to know if one antennae can/does all or if it won't work...

Thanks

Even though it is possible to scan 5.8ghz networks using a 2.4ghz Antenna, and scan 2.4ghz networks using a 5.8ghz antenna, that is about all you will be able to do. You need to purchase the same frequency antenna for the point you are planning on connecting wirelessly to!

I suggest you come have a chat to us in irc (irc.jawug.za.net 6667 #wnet) and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding antenna, equipment, connecting to Jawug etc (I see you are in Honeydew Ridge?) we may just be able to assist!

Hope to see you in IRC soon! :)

You "can" yes, you won't break anything, but you will most likely get a very crappy signal strength.

Thanks guys, spoke to Ryder last night on irc and organising equipment now, will see you on wug soon
