Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

The Glock also has plastic sights which are apparently replaced quite rapidly my many owners. The Sig comes with better sights, including night sights so a benefit there. Also has a larger mag and slightly longer handle which would probably fit your hand better.

I've got another friend who swears blind by Sig, but where can one go shoot them if you don't know anyone who has one (which I don't)? Any sales agents or dealers with hands-on opportunities?

Agree about the Glock sights, I've already enquired about getting TruGlo tritium night-sights installed. They're kinda expensive though, I won't lie, but if you miss your shots what is the point of the gun anyway.

Same question as the Sig ... do you know of any CZ dealer in Gauteng who has a range you can try the guns out on? I also see a lot of good things about CZ, but without hands-on experience I can't consider it.

I went to the range at Tactical HQ.

Tactical HQ

Large indoor shooting range, with a variety of unique and exotic guns for hire. A fully stocked gun store with a large selection of firearms, from bolt action hunting rifles to tactical AR-15, self defence hand guns, competition hand guns, clay shooting shotguns, tactical shotguns and more.

They will let you shoot any of a number of guns there, including pistols, assault rifles (AKs and AR-15s) as well as a Barrett even. Think it was R350 range fee, then just buy a box of bullets and you're good to go. They have instructors as well to keep everyone safe.

Waterfall gunshop in Randburg posted on FB about some special where you pay R750 and shoot with plenty different guns. Think they call it the John Wick Special

My wife has the Glock 26... Awesome little pistol, nice and small which makes it easy to conceal and being 9mm parabellum it packs enough punch should it be needed. Magazine capacity is only 10 rounds, but hell, if you need more than 10 rounds, then you should rather get the hell out of there in any case.

Is the Glock 26 like an older version of the 43? I struggle following Glock model numbers x.x I just never hear the 26 mentioned in online videos.

The 26 is a 10 round double stack, the 43 is a 6 round single stack, the 43x is a 10 round single stack.

So basically

26- short and fat grip, 10 rounds. With the advantage that it can take 10,15,17 and 33 round magazines as well
43-short and thin grip, 6 rounds. No magazine interchangeability
43x-long and thin grip, 10 rounds, No magazine interchangeability
 
I lean largely toward my .357 Magnum. HP/AP rounds. You only need to fire once and the perp drops like our Rand.
