Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

I was looking at a Scorpion on Wednesday.....Very nice...
Any regrets since buying it?
Thanks man. Yeah, a big one. It's HUNGRY

But seriously, I love it to bits. I can mostly hit man size targets at 100m with it, which I thought was amazing for a 9mm.

Any specific reason you chose it? I considered it as I already have a 9mm pistol so it would keep ammo simple for me...

Can I ask where you found this letter? Do you have a link to it published on an SAPS website? These days we should all be aware of #fakenews, and spoofing a legal letter like that is super easy. Until the letter is verified, I'd be cautious about trusting it.
Martin Hood published it on his Facebook.

To be honest, I've been itching for one for a while so caved in one day and grabbed it when a GS had it on special. At the moment it's a toy but I suspect it's a lot more useful in a close quarters SHTF scenario than what my AR is. It's for this reason I put a red dot on it. The fact that it uses 9mm did have a slight influence on getting it.

Licensed as a rifle or pistol?

I wonder how confident he is of the source I mean you're asking people to risk imprisonment based on your document you shared ... gotta be confident in the legitimacy.
The legality has never been in question. The main problem is un/misinformed overzealous cops playing bully boy. Hopefully this document can help dodge that to a large extent. If they still arrest you after showing them that, your chances of a successful wrongful arrest case goes up I would think.

Only if it's a legitimate letter. If it's a fake letter you downloaded that happens to support your preferred course of action ... do you think a judge would be understanding? The judgement there would probably hinge on the veracity which you attached to the letter based on where you found it, and I'm sorry ... but Martin Hood's Facebook page is not a legal source of truth as far as I'm aware. No disrespect to Mr Hood, of course, but we all have to be careful about the sources we trust in a world of phishing spam and AI-manipulated deep fake videos. A piece of digital paper can be created in five minutes to say anything from anybody.

I would say the leading firearm lawyer in the country could be considered a good source of information on firearm related legal issues. Unless his account turns out to be hacked, which doesn't appear to be the case.

Edit: This is not some kid posting something he heard from his aunty. It's an actual firearm lawyers official Facebook page.

Maybe. Are you going to stake your personal safety on your trust in Mr Hood? And the safety of others who might see a letter like that which you share? I prefer a bit of circumspection. The entire issue is that some police were following their own preferred interpretation of the law. I'm not sure that one legal opinion, even if it is legitimate, will immediately swing the tide on a dark and stormy night on the side of the N1 Highway, when Mr Cop doesn't want to hear stories. You know how it is right?

Not arguing there. Personally I stick to S13 for carry.

By all accounts both are good. But IMHO neither have figured out yet that those clips suck. They are thick, break easily, conceal poorly and don't hold well. Once you've tried DCC clips or loops you'll never go back.
Are there any holsters available in South Africa that come with DCC clips from factory, or do you need to import and retrofit them?

Not that I know of. Generally on imported holsters. But you can retrofit, they normally have similar sizes and hole spacing. But soft loops are also a decent option.

Checked out the Glock 43x and Glock 19 Gen3 yesterday.
The 19 actually felt very good in the hand.
The sales guy actually recommended the CZ P07 or Taurus G2C.
Said he didnt like the Glocks because of the lack of an external safety
Is that a thing?

Which gunshop did you go to?

If you keen on the 19, SSO in durban had them at a fantastic price of late.

The safety is on the trigger..

The salesman is either old-school or has cz/taurus stock to get rid of. If you have a proper holster that covers the trigger, and you use the muscle between your ears, then their is no reason to not to go for a Glock.
