Hi Mybroadbanders,

Which ISP would be the best to go with for 4mbps home uncapped internet?

I was thinking Axxess or Afrihost, am currently with Openweb but the fact that they shape all https traffic, even google can't be used most of the time.
Do these ISPs throttle, and after how many GB? Is it possible to torrent late night with the home uncapped accounts, or do they shape it to the point where it is not really feasible?

Any information will be greatly appreciated, including any other ISP recommendations!
Thanks a lot!

Between 100-150gb, max 200gb. I'd say about half of that goes to browsing/streaming, the other half downloads.

At that usage threshold I would advise that you also look at capped accounts in the same price range.

This ^^^^

Afrihost has the 100 gig package R199, Afrihost Plus (doubles your data) R99 so R298 for a 200gig unshaped experience. You also get uncapped from 12pm-6am so you can torrent to your hearts content in that time at full speed. You get 90%+ what your line is capable of 90%+ of the time.

Its a really good deal

You are also leaving Openweb so no matter where you go your internet experience WILL be 10000000000% better guaranteed. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...h-about-Openweb?highlight=truth+about+openweb

Sorry to correct you Turtle... AH free uncapped is from 23:30pm to 7:30am :D

And your post made me change my mind. I was going to get 10Meg Axxess Premium uncapped from my work (we are a reseller) for my fibre but now I am going to get a AH capped account (100GB) and then get AH Plus to make is 200GB. I'll save a few Rands and just have to queue my downloads from after hours.

CrystalWeb premium uncapped.

So far I've used 312GB - yes 312 Gigabytes - this month and I'm still 100% unshaped. Can watch 2 HD streams and surf the internet without issue.

I've been with several ISP's this year alone and CrystalWeb uncapped is better (and less shaped) than most capped and supposedly unshaped accounts.

BTW this is on 10MB/s Premium Uncapped.

Hello there , if you mostly use the internet during night hours and work like most of us do another option is get a small capped account from Vox , I have a 25 GB capped account from them with an uncapped bolt on the difference between their after hours uncapped bolt on and the other isp's is it runs from 6 pm to 6 am and the whole weekend

I am happy with the speed etc I use a 20 MB adsl account mostly connected at either 16 mb or 18 mb just to far from exchange for 20mb

OOPS I meant 25 GB account

with bolt on

Is the uncapped shaped or unshaped?
And is it subject to FUP?

Hello Killerbyte , as far as I know and understand it is unshaped but the only down side for me now that I am on a 20mb adsl only from this month was always on 10 mb is it tops out at 10mb but on 10 mb I did something like 400 to 500 gigs of data some months but I did not download perm either I used it mostly for Netflix , Youtube and gaming its nice not to have to worry about data usage from 6pm till 6 am and weekends btw also public holidays does not go towards your cap

And pay R800 for 10Mbps.... Yeah probably not an option

He wants 4Mb.

It's R678 with line rental.

And it's quality.

426GB last month. Not a single throttle or shaping or any bull****.

That is not too bad. On the higher lines though it gets expensive fast. I reckon uncapped on 20Mbps+ is just too expensive. Capped accounts are the way to go if you want speed.

Like mentioned Afrihost capped 100GB for R199 and R99 for Afrihost Plus+ to make it 200GB capped and 500mb mobile data is a decent deal and unshaped data too.

Other decent options would have been Vox fatpipe adsl specials.

Telkom softcap is a option too now that the double data promo is permanent and the option of the integrated data sim is nice too.
