Ok im looking for an ISP to cater my exact needs.. This is what i have experienced so far.

Afrihost - Once they moved to MTN and i got high latency's, I cancelled, support is horrible - I still have support tickets open from 3-4 weeks ago.

So Afrihost - not an option

___

Web Africa - I am currently with them but there AUP is horrible, 15GB on a 1mb/s line in 7 days.
Brilliant support but there are ISP's out there with better prices and data packages.

___
Open Web:
A college of mine recently showed me there accounts.. the gold uncapped @ R220 caught my eye. But how is there support.

_____
Basically i wanted to cancel with WA to get a Open Web account so i can use what i want without being throttled for no apparent reason.
Unfortunatly WA refused to cancel my account (data) due to date (30th Nov) although my debit order is yet to go off... Afrihost did do that for me and WA gave me a free month due to the cost.

and i cannot afford 2 data accounts financially.

So which ISP can offer:
- Reliable service
- Decent Cost
- Nice uncapped perks (no throttling / decent data AUP)
- Brilliant constant speeds.
- Flexible / accommodating new clients

Too add.. good pings aswell..Thus far i gotten all of this from Web Africa...

Apart from the limitation on downloads and limits put on uncapped accounts (15GB)

It seems that i do aswell find it crappy for gaming if im throttled. constant timeouts..

Which i currently am .

So which ISP can offer:
- Reliable service - We take pride in our service, and the main focus of our service offerings.
- Decent Cost - We try and keep our pricing as competitive as possible, and some of the best rates in the market.
- Nice uncapped perks (no throttling / decent data AUP)
- As decent as can be.
- Brilliant constant speeds. - We still have to rely on Telkom, but we can handle any line issues.
- Flexible / accommodating new clients - We try and accomdate all our clients needs

Why not try our 5Gb promo ( unshaped ) we are currently running, check out www.imaginet.co.za and click on promo.

Openweb's product offerings are good, but their customer portal and billing system is awful!

Choose MWEB!

I have tried both Afrihost and Openweb and MWEB won quite easily. Openweb is quite good as well but MWEB always seems to have less hassles and issues than the rest. this is of course purely from my experience

my experience:

just changed to plugg from axxess since they moved to the mtn backbone. speeds are great, shaping is sane with IS and my ping is at 180ms to eu, which i think is great!

their service seems good, but i guess one would only be able to truly tell once one runs into problems...

Well I have been with MWEB for 4 years up until End March when I was forced to cancel due to circumstances... In July, I was able to get my ADSL back, and decided to go with Afrihost... What a let down. I will rather pay more @ MWEB and know what I get.

Good Evening

If you would like to test the MWEB network, send me your contact details via private message and I will hook you up with a FREE 7 Day trial account ;)

Mweb/OW should both be ok.

I'd go with a standard/silver package unless you have a specific reason for wanting a gold one.

Also check OW test a/c thread.

I found OW processes & procedures a bit more confusing than AH/WA, but its fine. You can always email their chief if you get stuck.

I'm on Openweb Gold and it hasn't missed a beat. Couldn't be happier.

Just curious..but has anyone tried Imaginet before?prices seem to be very decent..

They are offering 1gig account for free on their web site.

1. point that I noticed is that in the email I received from their bot when approachind cap - that they don't HARD cap when you reach the cap !!!!! This can result in a rather hefty bill if you sign up with them. Be WARNED.

Ok, So from what i hear.. Mweb and Open web.

As clients..

What are there policy's on uncapped.. I dont want to be downloading 30GB then get some random email saying my account is cancelled, most annoying thing that could happen

So basically

Mweb: Downloading amount?
Mweb: Shaping / Throttling

OpenWeb: Downloading
OpenWeb: Shaping / Throttling?

I Have friends on MWEB who does between 250 & 450GB on 4MBS account with mweb, in a mix of youtube and torrents. They do shape you heavily on torrents during office hours, but they do not shape or throttle according the usage.

I Have no experience with openweb.

As i understand it..With Mweb..It's all uncapped and unthrotled !!

They just monitor the way you use the uncapped..Example :if you download 20-30GB everyday for the whole month, comes to asbuse use..

I have downloaded 300Gigs with no warnings!!
PLUS-Download speeds are very good!!torrents fly..gaming is good(had a prob with not being able to connect to my EU servers ,but all fixed)
