Which smartphone apps do you use the most? It will be helpful if you can share what they do.

Siri (Technically it's an App but it talks to all the rest)
Google Photos (Cloud Backup of my Photos)
Mail (Personal Accounts run through here)
Outlook (Work accounts through here)
Camera (Yes it's an app)
Maps (Goes without saying, mostly used in the car for obvious reasons)
Homekit (Smart Home all the things!!!)
Twitter
Reminders (Alongside Siri I use it for everything)
Telegram
Tapatalk (This and other forums)
FNB
Music
Grocery (This is a clever app that tracks where you pick stuff up in stores and sorts based on that and syncs to Reminders to share with the family)
Edge (Browser, normally Safari but been fiddling with this for a while)
Whatsapp
Waze (The only one to support motorcycles, use it to just check best routes)
Fuelly (Fuel tracking)
Onenote (All my notes everywhere all the time. Work, Personal and Recipes)
Youtube
Smart Link (Garmin) - GPS on my bike needs this to get traffic data etc.
Luno - Bitcoin
LinkedIn - Mostly just for jobs.
Windscribe - VPN when I need it.
Wyze - Smart Cameras
Home Assistant - When I need to do something more advanced than in Home.

you are a marketing / data collector's wet dream. they know where you are, where you've been and where you are going. They know where you shop, and what you buy. They know who you are talking to and probably what you are saying. Certainly Siri is listening in. They know what you are watching. And they know how much cash you have and where you stash it. Welcome to this episode of Big Brother!

absolutely everything is switched off. The only apps I have are opera for the very rare occasion I look something up while out and about, and whatsapp because family. I do not do banking or anything else on my phone. And if you are wondering why I bother at all with a smartphone - the reason is purely to stay in touch with family.

I've been looking for cheap feature phone that can record calls and has proper call blocking functionality, I would buy one of those but can't find one

None of it would work properly if not for that.

Except I control everything and very little gets my location outside of Apple because it’s all sandboxed nicely.

Siri only listens when I talk to her.

If one were to argue from your paranoid point of view then I would say the same is true for any phone that has a microphone and an internet connection, not just ones with digital assistants. And this is more true for anything running Android.

The difference is I know exactly what I’ve mine Is shades and with whom. Can’t say the same for the same for other platforms.

Also the fact that I don’t have a social media account to link it all to just be deeply confusing for them.
