Hey guys.

I'm already on a 4096 ADSL line from Telkom (month to month) and AFAIK I can still sign a contract for a 2year and get a free router.

I currently have a Netgear DG834 v3 which I bought myself.

If the contract + router option is still available, which one should I pick? I haven't seen Telkom routers since the Marconi abortions were rolled out.

It must support PPPoE and not have a huge frakking power brick and must be able to show line quality stats. SNMP would be nice too.

I don't care about WIFI.

AFAIK I have a choice between Netgear and Billion, not sure what the models are.

DO NOT SIGN FOR A CONTRACT!! BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE.

more serious note that netgear is pretty good router.

I don't really see the contract as a big issue, I'm not going to move my line to MWEB or any other company and I certainly won't switch to wireless, so a free router isn't a bad deal IMO.

if sign contract you get cap from them?

its fine to have line from them, just not get there cap from them.

Nope, as I said I just have a month to month line from Telkom, don't need them for the ISP, already have uncapped from OW.

Oh, apparently you have to get the ISP from them as well to get the special.

My line's been acting up and they of course accuse my router as the fault .. guess I should buy a Telkom router just in case / for a spare then :\

I wouldn't go for a Telscum router... Problem is they flash it with their own custom firmware which doesn't allow you to update from the manufacturer's site. Sitting with a telkom Netgear DG834GUv5 and it's a bit annoying
