Hi all i need some help to choose a ups between these 3 makes. I need to power 3 stock office pc's with led screens it must just give the user enough time to shutdown or to set the software to shutdown the pc when power fails. Budget is R3000

Maybe someone used them before and can share their opinion or give advice or recommending something else maybe thanks

Eaton 850VA Line-Interactive UPS

Mecer 850VA Line Interactive UPS

RCT 850VA Line Interactive UPS

Would choose eaton over any of those.

Currently have my eyes on a 2000VA Eaton unit.

I have the Eaton in order to give time to shut down if there is a power failure. It has been tested out a few times and it has worked fine for this.

Don't really need the runtime just to shutdown or let the software shut it down in case the user is not in front of the pc :)

Thanks all for the input

See if you can order something from overseas, South African retailers tend to buy the bottom of the bottom of the China mystery meat barrel and upmark it >100% to sell to suckers.

I imagine that ordering a UPS will incur quite heft shipping costs and since its batteries, it may not even ship through normal channels

With loadshedding imminent, going to order one next week.

But a couple of clients have the 850va units, no issues.
Picked to up this morning, 1500 and 2000 ... only negative is that the fan stays on ... my son is complaining he can hear it over his headphones ...

I'm sure that's only when it's flat and needs charging, and fan options in the software?

I have an 850va cheaper for WiFi & Fibre.. nothing else.

Does the job easily.. I am wondering if I should get a 2kva x2 again for server and tv. <— use to do this and easily watch for 2+hrs

Have an APC 2000VA unit with a 100 a/h battery. Keeps all IT stuff going for 10 hours. It’s silent on operation, you can disable the buzzer

Ok, so I am confused about this whole UPS thing ... I got the Eaton 2000VA unit, and plugged in the following:

1. Huawei ONT
2. Mikrotik 750 RB Router
3. Apple Airport Express

Now the software tells me it will run for 55 minutes ... but there is no way those 3 things can pull down all of the power. So by the looks of it, this UPS provides ALL available power THE WHOLE TIME, and not only to the devices plugged in.

Am I missing something? I was under the impression it will provide power to what is needing it, ie. be able to run Wifi goodies way beyond the 55 minutes it will give to a PC.

Any advice/help/insight
