Which UPS would you recommend

Looking for the details now ...
Also, do you know the wattage of your devices? My guess is it will be around 50w, so you'll need 50Wh (after conversion losses) per hour. A standard 7Ah lead acid is 84Wh, but you can only use half meaning 42Wh actual use.

(2)12V 9Ah - There's the problem .. Dammit ... didn't even consider looking at the battery :(
That's 108Wh available. Depending on the power draw of your devices you should get about 2 hours though (assuming my 50w guess isn't too far off).

Yeah ... will check the consumption when loadshedding is done ... problem is we are on 4.5 hour cycles :(

You could replace those batteries with bluenova lithiums (pricey) or look at the 60W mini ups from uniterm

I did look at the Uniterm, and that looks perfect. Was in stock about 30 minutes ago. Now nothing :( LOL

I got all the details:

ONT max 24W
Airport Express 5W
Mikrotik router 3W

So let's say 40W. Should get more than the 50 odd minutes I got. Maybe because it was first charge on the UPS ... is that still a thing?

The numbers on the airport express and mikrotik are spiritually low. You sure that's correct?

First charge shouldn't be a thing if they were fully charged.

Edit: the power usage you quoted seems to be correct.

Express is apparently 2.5W, which sounded too low, so I doubled up. Mikrotik spec sheet says 3W, so rounded up to 40W to be sure.

But even on 50W, I should get longer

You can also look at a mini DC UPS. Have a look at the geewiz mini DC UPC 7800mAh backup battery power bank. I've no experience with it but ppl at work have recommended it.

Thanks ... honestly I didn't even know all these things existed. Also looking at this one:

Those were hot property when they first landed, but sadly stock in SA is finished.

Ok, so the RCT-650VAS has a 7ah battery, and managed to keep a notebook fully charged for 2 hours. Possible I guess, as keeping the battery topped up shouldn't take too much power.

However, I do believe I might have a dud:

Sons one connected to his PC:

One running my stuff downstairs (I currently have a screen plugged in to see what the load is):

That output load number is key. That will determine (together with battery capacity) how long you can run for

Yeah, that's why I wanted to check that ... but giving zero out according to software. I can tell you though that my son's 2 screens run at 48W :)

Ok, we seem to be getting somewhere :)
I have no plugged in my WD15 docking station, 24" Samsung screen, and the Airport Express. It is now sitting on 16W ... however, this thing seems to only report in increments of 16. So anything below 16W will show zero, anything between 16W and 32W will show 16, and so on an so forth. So that means that everything I had on there this morning during loadshedding, was under 16W in total ... then I should be getting much more time out of it than I did

For what's it is worth, I got this extra just to run my ONT +fiber router. Seems to do ok with yesterday's 2.5 hour shed

I just ordered one of these https://www.arionpower.co.za/ hopefully it lives up to its promise
You see, this is where the **** doesn't make sense anymore.

7ah battery, for 6 hours
1594644685321.png

Based on my MAX usage based on the software, it is 16W, which means on a 9ah battery I should get 6.5 hours on the Eaton, and not the 50 minutes I am seeing

GGRRRR
