Which UPS would you recommend

Have one of these. I replaced the 7ah battery with a 17ah battery and now it lasts about 14 hours.
Pretty decent Service so far - I ordered on Sunday and delivered by Wed morning - I have it all plugged in and waiting for loadshedding at 6pm today to test

So I will be getting a refund for the two Eatons. Waiting for my Ratels, and now need to find a decent UPS for my son's pc, and with decent I mean something that will give about 15 minutes (guess around 650W will be enough), and the batteries don't take 14 hours to charge

Think i will be following your lead not impressed with these Eatons man my no name ups gives me better results lol
I must say, I am shocked. Took it back today, got told it is a warranty claim, I was not impressed. Got them to test it while I wait, and the approved the refund.
Will look at the small RTC I think

I have a different named product but it is the same. Mine did not come with a battery.
I added a larger 30ah battery. Even after 2.5 hours mine still shows the battery at 100^ charged.

What brand do you have - as I'm looking for something similar and what is the lifespan like on the 30ah battery you added in?

Did you receive your mini ups yet and if so could you test it out?
Yes I ordered on Sunday and it arrived yesterday - just in time for it to charge before loadshedding. it worked flawlessly for the 2.5 hours that the power was out. There was a small issue with the connector as the centre pin on the router was smaller than the connector on the ups so i sent the an email and one of their technicians dropped off an adapter. Pretty happy with the service

and you have a normal 7.2ah battery installed? Could you send a picture of the adapter? I want to order one as well so that i know what to get as I read up the connector to routers might be a problem in general

Hi
Mine was called peakpower. I got mine from communica. You should get 600 full cycles.
When I use mine it shows 99 percent full after 2 hours. I think this will last a good few years.

Thanks for he feedback - these days you can't just trust everybody as most of them are out there to make a quick buck

This is the one that comes in the box - it converts from a large to the thin barrel power connector. the one I needed was the same size as the one supplied but with a 2.1mm hole instead of a 2.5 as supplied

This is the new one - the one on the right is the correct one for my router

I've had Mecers fail, seen RCT fail etc - go for the cheapest one and get it over with. Even with no load, the battery % will fall, but should stabilize at some arb 60% level. Sure, it won't run for 9000+ hours, but should last at least 2+ hours. My Mecer el-cheapo UPS runs the TV for 2 hours without a problem with my set of batteries, so should also run the same time with no load.

Do note though,I have heard that some lower VA UPSs have a 2 hour hard limit on the runtime - my Mecer 650VA does this, even with no load. Mildly irritating, but not the end of the world.

And, what was the result ... both mine went back because the battery was running down with no load ... and the recharge time was just insane

Not yet because my PC stays on all the time except for loadshedding.

Ill let you know when the next loadshedding hits but here is a pic of when its in use, not sure if it helps.

The eaton 2000 and 1500 seems to have the hard discharge. No matter what, it discharges at a set rate

Personally i have never seen it happen that a brand new UPS drains it battery from 100% to less than 80% in 5 minutes time with nothing connected. Maybe a old ups with a bad battery then yes i will understand it :)

Wonder if this is the case with all the Eaton models? I tried to contact eaton a week ago no response what so ever

Picked up a Mecer 850 unit this morning ... first thing, it is SMALL, secondly ... no, as in ZERO fan crap when charging :)
