So quick roundup of how deliveries went from the lockdown orders I placed :

Whisky Brother : Best of the lot, had my order delivered on Monday when we moved to level 3.
Wild About Whisky : Also great, got my order Wednesday after moving to level 3, have subsequently placed another order which arrived 3 days later.
Bottega : Delayed order but not their fault to be fair as they were waiting on stock from the supplier, received my order the next day after they received stock
Norman Goodfellows : Bit of a sh!tshow with these guys and looking at their Facebook page plenty people are not happy, order placed 28 May, they arrived yesterday with only 2 of the 6 bottles ordered. I have a feeling they may have been selling off stock out the backdoor but I may be wrong. Getting hold of anyone there at the moment is impossible.

Norman Goodfellows just rocked up with the rest of my order, wasn't expecting it today that's for sure:whistling:

Hey that's great news :D! I think they really struggled with the high volume and backlog of orders but they do seem like they're going to fix their mistakes so that's at least promising.

Jah, I think things are pretty hectic there. I received 5 of 6 bottles last week, and yesterday I received another shipment for the same 6 bottles in that order.

I emailed them to say they send me 2x 5 bottles and I can pay them or they must fetch the box, but no reply yet.

I hope so, it's not the delay that's an issue for me but the lack of communication, no reply to E-mails, phone number doesn't work.

I decided to move from the Jameson onto the Black Bush, and had my first one last night - I enjoyed it. I'm still far too inexperienced to know what I am smelling and tasting though.

Just in case you didn't know, Makro and some Tops (at least in Cape Town) have got stock of the Jack Daniel's Rye which is a 70% Rye at 45% abv and about R299-310. I tried a sip after purchasing it this morning and must say it's actually quite good. Yes there's that Jack banana note but the Rye interplays nicely. I don't think it's as strong a Rye note despite the high rye mashbill but it works and is very drinkable neat and can imagine it works well in cocktails. As I've been drinking a fair bit of the Jack single barrel, I feel this competes quite nicely but is different I really didn't get that mintiness I get from say bulleit and even the JD Single Barrel. I will be sipping this from time to time.

I also picked up and opened Ardbeg An Oa, after getting to taste Ardbeg Blaaack I couldn't help but think of An Oa. Firstly I wasn't that wowed by Blaaack, it's a sweeter more toned down Ardbeg. Ardbeg An Oa has some sweetness but not as much, also very reserved but it's very enjoyable and drinkable. If Blaaack was core and priced the same as An Oa, I would pick it over An Oa but I feel like Ardbeg special releases are like splitting hairs with the core range. The Ten is just too good but An Oa makes a nice change but one day I must get Lagavulin 16 for easy drinking. For a collector's item blaaack was stunning though, very nice bottle and packaging and I wouldn't have been unhappy to have one but I spent my money elsewhere :p.
