I'd be keen to get his one tbh, looks and sounds interesting, different and left field. Funds don't permit at the moment, having to downsize

I also got their email this morning but the tasting notes did not blow my skirt up.

The word "light" sure gets used a lot...

Bottega also sent a mailshot advertising it at R775...but it's nowhere to be found on their website.
Was also interested but as you mentioned, nothing on their site :cautious:

I also couldn't find it so I've sent Sav a message. I'll let youknow what he says.
They have a great Restaurant/Bar and Whisky selection/knowledge AND great service as well.

BUT their e-commerce site has always been a complete shambles...unfortunately.

Customs tried to screw me over today...now I have to wait another 24h after re-submitting.

Only ZAR 173 approximately, but its also the principle of the matter.

Not sure if stupid or skelm?
The saga continues...

Got another updated worksheet last night...now the Volume is 0.7l but they are charging 25% duties.

Why? Because now they are using the Excise code for "Wine"

And why are they doing that? Because it's Laphroaig Càirdeas Port & Wine ....

It doesn't help that Laphroaig uses a German company to process and ship their products internationally and these guys obviously don't give a fuk, since the whole invoice that customs get, is in German !!

Luckily I managed to speak to an on the ball DHL dude now who figured this out with me and will fix it.

Interesting fun and games...

May lessons in there......for you, the DHL guy and us mere mortals. I doubt I would have taken the time to figure it out. Will bear this in mind with future imports.

I've only ever imported one bottle of booze (besides whisky mule friends). I suck as a whisky collector :(

That is bourbon. Can't stand the taste (probably why you add the lime ;)).
Same here, it's disgusting.

I've never really been into drinking Whisky, but I like it a lot and would like to get into it.

Must be cos you have too many whisky mules :)

BTW, I'm not a whisky collector, I'm a whisky drinker who doesn't have enough time or liver to drink it all.

Maybe you just have better impulse control then I do...

Also I just import whatever I know will never be available locally AND I really want to drink it.

And I import a lot of rum, because the local selection for international rum really sucks.

Speaking of JD, of which i am not a fan, I picked up some positive chatter on a local whisky group I'm part of regarding JD Rye. I'm a bourbon drinker with a soft soft for rye whiskey. I picked up a bottle the other day. It's cheap enough not to be too concerned about if it's horrible and can always be used in old fashioneds.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised by it, especially at its price point.

I'm not hating it as much as I usually hate JD :cautious:

Not really getting the spice that much but the banana is there.
