so I bought a Bourbon, but finding it hard to drink :(

Its just not doing it for me. That said I should probably give it more time. I'll also try buying another kind just to compare.

I'm kind of with mightyquin on this one. Maybe whisky isn't your thing. That said however there is a world of flavours to be found in whisky. So I'd like to think there is something for everyone. Maybe the question should be what other drinks or even food do you enjoy?

Edit: Bourbon is good over ice. Great on those hot summer days. Maybe experiment with ice and a decent pour and savour it and see if you find a good dilution spot.

I don't think whiskey is for you. Stop wasting your money on full bottles when you can go to a bar and try things for much less. Hell I think some places even offer tastings.

PS you probably don't want to look at anything that has a bourbon cask and no peat, it's clear you do not enjoy sweet drinks.

One of the few whiskies I could not drink. For me it had a fake metallic peat taste. Gave the bottle away. If you like that you may as well drink three ships 5yo. Cheaper, better quality and taste. My 5c
Have to agree, this one is not for me.

Definitely agree with many sentiments. Tasting many different types would be a start, but also styles. Usually tasting events would be ideal as there is vast range, however right now, the best option would be going to a bar or getting tasting packs Purchasing entire bottles and hoping for something you like can get both pricey and demotivating. Everyone's journey is different. I started with mixing "cheap"/"common" whisky with Appletiser/cooldrink and eventually started enjoying it neat when I found whisky I really enjoyed. That process worked for me.

Personally, I would say, drink it neat, with ice, with cocktails, but just keep trying different things. From the sweetness of bourbon to the saltiness of Ilse of Skye to the smokiness of Islay. There is a whisky out there that will appeal to you in some way or form.

@morkhans OK you twisted my arm

I've come across some awesome stuff on (of all places) the Picardi website.

They sell quite a few travel only exclusives ( in 1Ltr bottles). Check these beauties.

Jissis...nice stuff.

That Cuan Mor is awesome stuff indeed.

I've been looking at the Brodir but it is not cheap so must think a bit. Same with Legacy 1815...
