Here's the line up from a Whisky tasting I setup last Saturday, everyone brings a bottle and shares a pour with everyone present. Maxim Whisky lounge hosted us.

Benriach 15 PX Cask, robust and full of forgot, really sweet though
Springbank 12 Cask strength, complex with many layers
Talisker Dark Storm, a bit of peat and smoke

It's very difficult to get a true indication of the whisky as we started with the good stuff first, everything else thereafter just paled in comparison.

The Crown Royal Rye was interesting, very high Rye content so it's very spicy.

The Project XX was created but the 20 different Glenfiddich ambassadors choosing a Cask each and that was combined to create that experimental batch. They chose predominately bourbon Cask whiskies, the rest were sherry Cask. It's a very nice whisky, the higher Abv also makes it a bit more enjoyable but I do miss a bit more of the sherry influence.

The Bunnahabhain is quite nice. You can taste there's a bit of young whisky in it. It's one of the few whiskies that I prefer adding a little bit of water to. Right now it's exclusive to duty-free, same as the talisker.

I read up on the XX, which is why I was keen on your feedback. Not sure if I'd pick that over the Lagavulin 12 seeing as they are in the same price range, but I like the peaty stuff more :D

A friend got back from the UK on Monday and brought me a PX cask and that very same Dark Storm. I really enjoy the PX cask and am looking forward to the Dark Storm.

This bit is so true:

The amount of peat used varies widely.*Bruichladdich*is the only Islay distillery known for its non-smoked whiskies.*Laphroaig, on the other end of the island and the other end of the peat spectrum, unapologetically overwhelms the palate with peat. Laphroaig’s recent*“Opinions Welcome” campaign*received feedback that varied from “like chewing on a well-tarred fishing boat” to “drinking the inside of an antique store”. The opinion that resonated most with me reads, “It’s like fighting a peat bog monster that is on fire, but suddenly you both pause, look in one another’s eyes and kiss.”
