So, some of you would have probably seen my incessant moaning about giving up drinking while the missus is knocked up. Well it paid off. Not only did she give birth to a beautiful baby boy this morning, she gifted me a Glenmorangie 18 y/o Extremely Rare for sticking it out with her.

Having had the "normal' 18y/o before I'm not sure where this one will excel (or fall short), but it looks like a heck of a smooth scotch. Not being able to indulge quite yet, I took a whiff before putting it away, and it smells so bloody good!

Congrats on the new arrival. Enjoy the whisky and have a dram for all of us salivating over here.

Someone finished my Eigevis directors reserve brandy at the holiday house so last night I had some Bonnie and Clyde whisky, it was very good. Hope I can find an open liquor store today cause we are all out of harde hout.

Jislaaik, I'm jealous. Congrats dad.

Also, congrats for sticking it out. Both times my wife was pregnant, I told her I'll go sober for the term and failed misserably. She's actually now sober since the 1st pregnancy and non smoker since then (going on 10 years).

Congrats on the baby, excellent excuse to buy yourself all the toys you've been eyeing out secretly, cause "it's for the baby"

I'm a Double Black Label fan. Delicious and smokey:) Except it's getting harder and harder to find these days so I'm not sure what I'll replace it with once it becomes extinct...

Enjoyed a Bains tonight. It's been a while since my last dram of Bains. Tomorrow will possibly be Bush Mills.

Checkers have 20% off of all single malts until tomorrow.

I saw The Glenlivet 12 yo for R343 am not sure if that was with the 20% off or not. Anyone confirm if that is the reduced price? (I have reason to doubt due to the woman in the shop and the original ticket etc)

Nice, thanks for the info. Might have to talk a gander through checkers liquor tomorrow. Glenlivet 12 is R420 at Makro, so R343 sounds like a reduced price.

Cool beans. They've got the gift box with 2 free glasses as well, so I think it would be rude not to get one

*grumble*

Rushed off to Checkers for a bottle of Macallan Amber, only to find it sold out at 3 different branches. Humbug

I got a bottle of Glen Grant for R190 with the Checkers special, I will try it this week.

Going to buy myself something to sip on for Fathers Day. Tullamore Dew or Black Bottle?

Black Bottle no longer on special so that decided that. Tullamore it is, not 12 year old though.
