Is there such a thing as a good sipping whiskey for under R200?
or R300?

Loch lomond signature (checkers only) was ~R260 last I checked and is lovely neat.

I quite enjoy their reserve with a dash of water. Three ships 5yo with a dash is my other go to cheapie.

The Clan Deney Islay is not bad but the Speyside is quite rough when it's neat. Never heard of Dunadd, where did the club get it from?
Oh awesome. Thanks for the heads up. Gave my mate the Speyside and kept the Islay, will taste it when I go to his.

The club (wineofthemonth.co.za) also has a whiskey subscription where they send you various single malts every X months. Live the concept because you get to try whiskeys you wouldn't normally get

Happy drinking everyone...

Who's attending the FNB WhiskyLive Sandton?
Went last night. Wasn't too packed at all which contributed to choosing Wednesday to attend. In order of preference (what I thought were the best):
Dalmore 18yr
Dalmore Cigar
Macallan 18yr1478796132087.jpg
Arbelor 16yr
Smokehead Peated
Kilchoman 18yr

Stayed away from brands I have tasted before (Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich, Jameson, Black Bottle, 3 Ships, Jonny, Jack etc)

Awesome evening out

I was there last night as well. Got a ticket for tonight but still considering whether I want to go.

Glenfiddich and Glenlivet brought their new stuff and it's with a visit.
Glenfiddich, Project XX is very nice and complex, I'm not a fan of the IPA cask.
Glenlivet had 2 different Nadurra available, 60.3% Abv, quite interesting.
I managed to get a tasting of the Three Ships Pinotage Cask, still prefer the PX cask.

Just cracked open some JW Green. Noticeably smoother than Red/Black/Double Black.

Decent price too 700 zar equivalent for a litre.

Arguably better than the rest of the Johnny Walker core range as well did u get that price in duty-free?

Bought a Glenmorangie 18 year and a Macallan Amber to celebrate the birth of my boy. Haven't opened these yet, but Iove them both. Is it true that the Amber is not being made anymore?

Pnp prices are generally inflated so they are probably the cheapest right now but the savings are relative. I use makro as a guide for pricing.

Last year this time I picked up a bottle of the lagavulin 16 for R850. Crazy how the prices have gone up.

I see Macallan brought the age statement whiskies so dropping the amber is a possibility but I haven't heard anything.
