Glenlivet 12 was nice and easy. Paired with date filled with fig and wrapped in bacon. Also had a small slice of Scottish mature cheddar on the side which brought out the oak really nicely.

Nadurra was really good. Simple duck pate pairing which helped tone the high ABV down a tad.

Wow, sounds amazing. Who responsible for the food?

Preferred the Black Art 1990 to Octamore... strangely ebough. Felt the Octa was a more powerful Laphroaig? Or maybe I was already toasted by the time I got to it :-)

The Black Art is quite an interesting whisky, I'm not sure which version I've had but 3 years in a row I've tasted it and the most prominent flavour was raw mushrooms. It tasted quite earthy to me, its nice but the price, I can get a lot better at R4000.

Person who brings the bottle also has to do the paring. Part of the rules. We all moan and groan but it always turns out to be super fun.

My preferred when I'm not drinking vodka

Some checkers specials. The loch lomond single malt is a great buy at R330.

The Glen Scotia double Cask is quite a nice easy drinking whisky for that price. One of the casks is PX sherry.

Makro has Glenfiddich with 2 glasses for R399.
Bought a bottle. Will try tonight.
Also bought the Speyburn single malt. R250 at Makro

Wow, u r one lucky guy. Enjoy, that's a once in a lifetime drink.

Was the last 4 shots in the bottle. Little bit of evaporation and condensation influence. Everything was really subtle. The nose was Peaty but not in your face crazy. The initial finish had a serious ash taste.

All in all difficult to describe but a lovely experience and thoroughly enjoyable.

Is it worth the heavy price that one would pay for a bottle of Port Ellen?

I wouldn't buy a bottle just like I wouldn't buy a supercar. Just one of those relative to "how much money have you got" things.

This was a big surprise. Nothing like the 16 at all. Cask strength certainly played it's part. Great whisky.

You got yourself a bottle of the Laga 12 didn't u, are you going to open it now? Tasted it at whisky live, I agree wholeheartedly.

Was going to save it but seeing as my friend brought the Port Ellen it was a good time to crack it open.
