Buffalo Trace is a definite must try is you're trying out Bourbon. A nice middle between the rye and wheat type Bourbons (towards the rye) . Better priced as well, seen it on takealot under R300 on special 2 months back.

Dunno, purchased on 20/03/2018. Went back yesterday (PnP Tyger Valley) and they had none left.
Was a good price.
It did well as the opener for the evening.
Highlights for me were the bunnahabhain 18 and the ardbeg supernova.

Is it very peaty? I tried the 12 year which I enjoyed but I really dont like or appreciate peaty whiskies
Not Peaty at all. More like a bowmore. More costal notes.

You tried tamdhu or Glenfarclas? Some nice Sherried stuff from both those distilleries.

Not yet although I really enjoy the sherry casks. Will add them to the list as well. I once received a Arberlour 12 year which introduced me to sherry cask whiskies.

I will not even use Laphroaig to remove paint from my walls...Their 16yo is really good.
The laphroaig px cask is also sherried

For sure, but that doesn't mean it is a bad Whiskey...which is always implied by paint stripper comparisons.
Bains on the other hand......
Macallan had just released their double cask which is has a more Sherry influence than the triple cask. Reviews have compared it to the old 12 year Sherry Oak before they started with NAS releases. Will be trying it out after lunch.
