Many pages here ... haven't read them all - but what's the opinion on Bottleshop?

They are one of 'those' companies that can't be bothered to reply to their info@ address. So, after a few attempts, it seems the only way to chat to them was complain on Facebook about a lack of reply.

Anyway - getting to my 'issue', I received a voucher and placed an order Wednesday afternoon. Thereafter? Nothing. I'd hope with R95.00 delivery, they may do a day or two. According to the status, they're out of stock again. I wish they'd communicate thoough :/

Took the plunge on Ardbeg Grooves at Bottleshop. Ordered just before 11am. Arrived just after 2pm. Pretty impressive.

That is impressive :/

I have 'awaiting shipping' since the 27 June.

They don't always have stock of everything. I suspect on the more obscure stuff once you order it they order it from an overseas supplier.

But you are correct on ignoring emails. I've also mailed them in the past with no response received.

You will get your stuff eventually.

Hi All

I'm in abit of a dilemma. I'm stuck between buying 2 different bottles of Glenlivet. The 18YO or the Code. Need to make a decision soon, they both around the same price but I haven't tasted the 18YO nor have I tasted the Code. Anyone tasted both and have any opinions on the 2?

I've tasted the 18yo and thought it was pretty good. Can't comment on code. Maybe work through the comments on master of malt to help you out?

There was a gift set at some stage with the 12yo where you got a small 15 & 18 sample with it, which is how I got to taste them. Maybe you can still find one?

I'm looking for a bottle of Loch Lomond Inchmoan. I had some in the UK and it was pretty damn awesome, at a very reasonable price. Can't find it at all, locally, and importing it is impractically expensive, virtually doubling the price per bottle after shipping and taxes have been taken into account.
Does anyone know where I can source it?

I think Checkers liquor has the Loch Lomond range. If not there, maybe try https://www.whiskybrother.com/ or https://www.aficionados.co.za/?

They have Loch Lomond but not the Inchmoan. Swung by the Whisky Brother store yesterday and they have a good selection, but also not the Inchmoan. I've asked them to try and source it so will see what they come back with.

No dice from Whiskey Brother. They may bring it in next year. They'll have a Single Cask next month, however.

I picked up a bottle of Glendronach 18 - Allardice Sherry Cask. Apparently it's getting difficult to find, but Makro came into some, so I took a chance on it. Lovely stuff, very complicated profile and the taste of dried peaches stay in your mouth for quite some time after consumption. Notes of cherry. I really like it.

Then, I was gifted a bottle of Glendronach Peated. Super nice - smooth, sweet. If you like a peated whisky, I can definitely recommend it, and it's surprisingly affordable.

Checkers has 20% off whisky gift packs this weekend

Guys, I urgently need some help here. I was given the nice task of sourcing a special bottle of whisky for a very important staff member at the office. I was told budget is not an issue, so we're looking at R10k~R20k, from my initial questions.

I'm specifically trying to find a bottle that was distilled in 1991, since it's a special year for said member, but I have no idea where to look.

To boot, I'm on a timeline - I need it in office in JHB, delivered and all, latest Thursday morning.

Anyone know such a bottle I can find?

Your best bet would be WhiskyBrother or Bottega Cafe in Parkhurst. Both places have an extensive collection with great service.
