It may be just me but I prefer the Select over the 10 year old or the QC.

So far feeling the same, Select is better than the QC and almost half the price.

For the price point of the QC I'd rather get the Ardbeg 10. The Ardbeg might be slightly cheaper depending where u get it. The Select is easier drinking than both though, as previously stated.

I look forward to your thoughts. I will probably give mine a try over the weekend.
Brilliant whiskey. Very smooth and peaty. Maybe even a little too smooth? I'll have to try some of their other variations now.

The cheaper younger sibling to the Octomore. I find the peat flavour from the different Islay distilleries are slightly similar although it's still all Islay peat. The Port Chatlotte peaty characteristics are similar to the Octomore(same distillery).
Did you mean to use the word "similar"...it doesn't look correct in the context of your sentence. Just asking.

But yes, Bruichladdich sure knows how to make them....

Why do keep giving me information I already have and have know for quite a long time?

This is the sentence that does not make sense to me, especially the highlighted part:

I find the peat flavor from the different Islay distilleries are slightly similar although it's still all Islay peat.

The word "although" doesn't make sense to me in that sentence. Islay peat is Islay peat, so it has the same "flavor" regardless of which Islay distillery.

Mainland peat impart a different "flavor", however.

Ah, my mistake, thinking too fast as I type on my phone, I should have said "I find the peat flavour from the different Islay distilleries are slightly different although it's still all Islay peat. "

The peat characteristics in Ardbeg are different to Port Charlotte but the both use Islay peat.

Respectfully I think you are imagining that...it's the same peat from the same terroir. Only PPM will affect how the peat is perceived in the Whisky.

Arbeg is at 50 - 55 PPM and Port Charlotte at about 40 PPM...that allows the floral characters to still shine through etc.

I could very well be imagining it. I do find a big similarity between the Octomore and the Port Charlotte although the Octomore is heavily peated. The similarity could come from some common in the distillery and not the Peat, it's just a point of discussion and not an argument.

If you line up Lagavullin, Ardbeg, Bowmore and Port Charlotte, I find the former 2 have a lot more pronounced medicinal notes whereas the Bowmore is a lot more toned down.

The know all and have it all. Don't you get tired of yourself ?
I'm not sure if that was directed towards me but I will respond without taking it personally. This is a whisky thread and I thought we could actually discuss whisky. I will keep me thoughts to myself in future to stop people feeling as you have.
