The research I've done on what I see, indicates something different. But the onus rests on the seller to do his own research.

I didn't realise you've already acquired the bottle and was about to open it?
 
Keep in mind that distilled spirits does not age in the bottle like wines or beers, so they don't gain any quality. Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's worth anything more. In fact, stored incorrectly you're actually losing quality as it gets older.

tl;dr: Drink it.

I was hoping to, but all good. No probs from me. I like to drink my whisky not look at it, so if it has a value other than the price of the wet stuff, good luck to him.

An obvious and well know fact, that is completely irrelevant to this particular conversation.

It is about rarity, collectible and what collectors are willing to pay for a specific item.

Indeed, if that's a collectible bottle. Labels aren't in best condition and so on though, so I'm not sure that one would be so incredibly valuable, unless of course you know something we don't :D

I've watched quite a few reviews on Youtube and read some on Whisky Exchange and it seems many people say that it is neck and neck with Johnny Black even Double Black but cheaper.

Think I will try one :unsure:

Yes the wife likes it, but it's not my thing for sure. I love Bourbon and the honey just messes it up.

Wtf First Watch and 100 Pipers gives me the biggest babalas ever. VAT45 isn't too bad a quality for the moderate price. Otherwise, it's Chivas Regal 12yr, Johnny Walker Black 12yr, or even Three Ships Black Label Bourbon or Jim Beam Bourbon of course.
