Another STR, didn't u get one at TOWS?

I'm a big fan of the Birnie Moss, tell me what u think.

Jip, another STR cask, it's that good.

The Birnie Moss is a good price at R380ish. Will let you know.

The only way I can describe it is to say that it seems just a little more serious than the normal Machir Bay, if that makes sense.

Maybe slightly older selection of stock? Always been a fan of machir bay. On my 3rd bottle. Always seems to start off on the sweeter side with light peat notes and once the bottle dips past half way it starts getting more salty.

More whisky being relocated

Quite a few gems in there, 131 combined years excluding the young one on the left

Mmmm let me know when you want to sell that laphroaig 18

I never sell my whisky. I do swap or may even give away (depends on the recepient) but I don't sell. This only applies to the bottles I'm not attached to.... I'm not attached to 18 or the an cuan mor that I also own.

Is there anyone here who travels overseas often and looks at the whiskey in duty free on arrival back in SA. I am trying to find out when there are well priced whiskeys or sales. I often know people traveling but they dont know whiskey prices to compare if its a good deal or just normal price
It's not usually cheaper at all. There's rarely anything in Big Five that can't be obtained from Whisky Brother

Hey guys wife is passing through duty free next week, will only ask her to go to the small one on the way out of or thambo. I need 3 options upto max of R1.2

At the moment its bains 15, talisker dark storm anything else from this small one?

I already have JW Island Green.

mmm the Bains is amazing should have gotten it earlier looking forward to that 15!

Yeah I don't own a bottle I find it a little on the sweet side but every time I taste Bains, it grows on me so eventually, I'll have to have a bottle. I'm a big fan of the Three Ships Bourbon Cask though!

Getting much more into the Benriach Curiositas now, with a bit of time and water, the herbal notes aren't as sharp, getting some hops on the nose, and fresh pear the palate with some icing sugar, also slightly funky but like a warehouse? Very medicinal peat but herbal rather than clinical (like Laphroaig). Still don't think I'd recommend it without trying it first but gosh I can see it becoming a favourite, maybe it's worth trying the Benriach 10 too (at a much later date, my wallet is dead)? For the price it seems to punch well above its weight.

I'd suggest you try the Bernie Moss before the 10(non-peated). I really did not enjoy the Benriach 10, in this case I would suggest a tasting before purchasing.

I bought the Bernie Moss without trying it but I do really like the Curiositas which is a similar style, so I'm told.
