Checkers cobble walk as well as Brackenfell should have some. When I went hunting for those taliksker 8yo a while back they had stock.

Can confirm cobble walk has stock, Durbanville had the madeira cask. Cape gate has loch lomond (no 18s) and glen scotia.

Anyone know if the deal applies to the loch lomond 18 or is it worth it to go for the 12yo?

Sazerac rye for a good price at NGF

The advert mightyquin posted showed the 18yo so should be part of the deal.

Yeah (showed the inchmurrin 18) I'm tempted to try it because it's already one of the cheaper 18s out there! Oddly in stores they aren't really promoting this! I know cape gate had the promotion up but they don't stock the 18s.

Interesting, I've not had the American Oak but I've had the 12yo and the Three wood, the 12 is pretty average but I like the three wood for its sherry finishes.

Springbank can vary a lot so might depend on what batch it was as they do practically everything 'by hand'. I recently compared quite a few whiskies including Springbank 10 and it had the most flavour for me. That said the price is verging on ridiculous and the same can be said for Craigellachie 13 and to a lesser degree Aultmore 12. Springbank is generally quite a palate heavy whisky, it's quite oily too. It's quite hard for me to see it as being on par with a R300 whisky but I'll agree the price isn't worth it. To be honest the best choices are generally to buy Kilkerran 12 (similar but more well rounded) or pay a bit more and get the 12CS.

I can understand the bourbon doing well, due to virgin oak and Rye. Packed with flavour. HP 10 is quite a mild thin pleasant peat introduction whisky, probably has a bit more prominent peat flavour though.again unlikely that I'll buy another Springbank 10 due to the price but I do love the brand.
The American Oak is great! Especially when Bottleshop (RIP) were selling it for R279 a bottle.

Does anyone know the normal price of the Loch Lomond 18 year old at Checkers? I can’t seem to find it online.

I was at the Nicolway branch,, the Loch Lomond 18, Inchmurrin 18 and Glen Scotia Victoriana are all R1199. Got myself the Victoriana.

Should be about R1000. Less if 25% applies. I think inchmurrin 18 was R1100.

A couple months back I got the Glen Scotia Victoriana for R1000 that was a nice find but didn't see any other checkers with it.
