Hold up. Did they deliver this during the alcohol lockdown? I would have thought Mr O R Tambo opens all incoming packages to check the contents and maybe take a sip or two just to make sure.
I had one package get through hard lockdown and another one get blocked. Both shipped by DHL (but from two different stores) but I think one was more clearly marked as alcohol.

Yes they did. The shipping is done by DHL so that doesn't happen, I doubt it even gets to customs, I think MoM provides the info to DHL and they process the customs based upon that.
Sounds like an only option in this mad time!
What payment method do you use, and is the estimated delivery day stated on the checkout fairly accurate??

I used my credit card, initially I had to request Discovery Card to allow the vendor as it used to be marked as suspected fraud but these days it goes through without issues. Delivery times are usually around 7 days from ordering even if the estimated date is earlier, customs usually delays it a day or 2 more than expected.

Latest MoM order

This might sound dumb but how did you get this into the country?

I've got a parcel stuck in limbo that side waiting for this stupid booze ban to lift. I bought it for my birthday (6 Feb) but I'm guessing I won't be getting it in time.

EDIT: I missed an entire page of replies - so nevermind that. Not sure I'd like to take the risk and have it confiscated. 'Twas a bit expensive :whistling:

If they didn't mark it as alcohol (which is what I'm assuming, surely?) did they hit you with any customs charges?

It would not be confiscated as there's nothing illegal about the whole process except for DHL actually delivering during lockdown. As Axsis mentioned, one his deliveries was kept with the courier company until alcohol prohibition was lifted.

It was marked as alcohol and declared correctly to customs. Once again, I think the customs process is not affected by the alcohol prohibition. I was hit with Vat, duty, excise, DHL clearance fee and the new fee as well(Multiline Entry Charge)

Thank goodness for anniversary gifts during these difficult times.

Looking forward to the little Quinta as I've never tried that before.

Great news.

First project of 2021 completed. A travel retail & distillery exclusive!
Cask Strength (63.5% abv) Shiraz Cask Finish.
Should be in @BigFiveDutyFree when travel bans are lifted & at the JSD when alcohol ban is lifted.
4650 bottles available it seems

Definitely need to get hold of a bottle of this

Quinta Ruban is great! If you enjoy it, Norman Goodfellows has it for R599, which is a fantastic price in my opinion.
Now I need this, I love real Port so these Portuguese casks will be perfect for me.

Last week I bought a 1.75 litre bottle of Woodford Reserve straight bourbon. $65 at a local liquor shop in Irving, TX. I'm impressed. Very smooth and drinkable. Straight, of course. It's going faster than I'd planned.

That's like half a gallon :)
